Hasn't the football stadium in Philly switched to half wind power half grid power and have done away with their lease by selling the power back to the city? Sounds like a step in the right direction to me...

GE not only makes reactors, but also makes a nice little wind turbine for the roof of your house/barn/shop....

farmers made out with natural gas wells, my guess is wind and solar have a place on the farm as well.

oh wait they are called "wind farms" already

science doesn't really care what you think. people are doing research on all aspects of this every day. the problem with publicly funded science is that profitability and frugality are favoured. the obvious exception to this is NASA, which conducted some of the most ridiculously expensive, awesome research on fuel cells.

fuel cells work fine right now. there is nothing inherantly wrong with them except that the cost is high. NASA has used PEMFCs (proton exchange membrane fuel cells) for over 50 years in space shuttles. they really don't have to worry about a price tag.

that represents only one type of fuel cell (of which there are several varieties). what part of that do you think suits the distant future?
