na your not a branded loser for life. your a cool guy with problems. all problems have a solution.

AA has helped some of my friends, though i wont go so far as to recommend it since i personally didnt like it (than again, im not an alcoholic, and dont even like drinking that much)

AA has a 97% failure rate and it fucking holds you hostage by your 'sober' days...don't lose your days don't lose your days don't lose your days BAM you lost your days

yea thats the impression i get when talking to most people. the AA meetings i went to were just a small part of treatment at a rehab clinic i go to. The shitty part of AA is that they try to act like they are the only way, when its not for everyone. the part i liked about it was it was a non-judgmental place for catharsis and people who can relate to your problems. if you can take that away from it and ignore the BS it can be helpful.

and contrary to what AA says you dont lose your days. just because your drunk today doesnt mean you werent sober yesterday and cant be sober tomorrow. imo ofc.

A friend of mine did pretty well with those tablets that make you sick if you drink, helped them get over the first few weeks, she started to feel able to do it by herself from there.

people needing help ALWAYS find something wrong with the ones or thing that may be able to give it to them

i've been there, i've done it a million times

You could even call an an externalization and attribution of your own, inner problems... problems which unconscioiusly want to stay rooted, and feel threatened by those people/things which can remove it?

But let's be honest, AA may not be for everyone. AA itself says it is only for people with no control over their drinking, and I can imagine a lot of people that may have drinking problems but don't fall into that category.

Not being able to control your drinking is the very definition of 'drinking problem'.

Exactly, the varying degrees of that lack of control doesn't change the fact. It only appears to, as its impact is relative to what a person's definition of 'productivity' or 'living' is.

Get real.
