Yeah your pretty close.. Here in my county its john doe, inmate @ bfe county jail. I'd call the jail and ask to be honest. Your doing a good thing writing your friend, not many people do that. Major props if you do! Also here they won't let you correspond if you have recently been incarcerated yourself.

I would call the jail in question and ask. I imagine they all have their own rules and procedures for such things, and are probably dicks about it if you don't cross your T's and dot your i's just like they like.

you might need an inmate number, which you could probably find online, or by calling/ going to the jail.
sucks man, good luck to your friend

yeah 20 years man.....he has a 5 year old daughter, a wife *soon ex* and a girlfriend too.
He made some really dumb mistakes but he also helped out a lot of truly chronically ill people in certain ways rumor has it. Dont wanna get into specifics of course. Least i can do is wright him and maybe go pay him a visit now and again

Jimmy I feel like this is a thread more so aimed at discussing the recent loss of your friend than how to mail a letter to him.
I have lost multiple friends to the prison system, it sucks. if you want to talk PM me.

This situation really sux its quite a bit different though. i am surprised he stayed out of jail for as long as he did. The kid was a great dude but quite possibly one of the most careless "service providers" i had ever seen. Last year he got two 2 DUIs in one week heh...he certainly wasnt paranoid thast for sure. I wish he would have been. I am not sure if he can get out earlier or not...i just know that they had been working on making a case on him for over 6 months..he sold to an undercover officer, they arrested him at his house and that he is looking at 20 years

20 years in a county jail ?
not being transfered to prison ? anyway, 10 bucks to an inmate is like gold. usually deposited to the inmates social security number. used to buy soap, safety razors, etc., from the account setup with his ss#.

is there like a centralized data base to search for your friends to find them in the prison system? I'm sure I could be typing this into google but w/e
I lost my best friend to a 5 year prison sentence and at the time it was impossible to keep in contact with him or anyone close to him so I'm not sure where he landed.

Ok, first thing is, don't worry.
You need to call the jail or look to see if they have a web site. If they have a web site, look for FAQs. You can usually find out info there. If not, call the jail and ask. Be prepared to wait long periods of time, as it can be frustrating. Be nice, it helps. It sounds to me that he hasn't been convicted yet. When a person gets arrested, the cops ALWAYS tag on to you as many charges as they can. It's part of the game. This makes it look like they are cutting you a deal, when they actually aren't. If he has been convicted, you will need his inmate number. That is now his identity and no mail will get to him without it. It sounds to me what he needs more than anything is a good lawyer. Now this is info about my area. Yours is probably slightly different, but they all seem to be pretty much the same general way. I wish I didn't know about this kind of shit, but I do. |

Our jail in Canberra provides inmates with limited and censored internet access as well as a monitored email account.

Gonna try and visit him as soon as the jail lets me. Currently they arent giving me any answers to when because i am not family. However.....i did get the mail thing figured out so yeah...gonna do that for sure. /end of thread

sorry to hear about your friend, from what i have read and the time you say he has gotten i think its safe to say he got busted with some weight,my aunt was set up years ago and received 30 years in a fed prison, when drugs are concerned they have manditory times, not much you can do,and if he got fed time he will do about 85%of that, and if there were more then 4 people involved its considered orginized crime and thats more time, well like someone else wrote send him some cash from time to time and keep the letters going, about all you can do
