So basically I enjoy adult themed anime with a penchant for fucked up stories involving insane paranoia, sci fi anime is usually cool as well. Turn offs include excessive vampires and other mythological beings, dragons, the fucking high pitched female sidekick who sounds like she's hopped up on helium and gas fumes, lolis and most extreme perversions one sees in the more adult themed anime.

vampire hunter D *the original anime which is quite old but still good as well as the new one vampire hunter D: blood lust*

fooley cooley aka FLCL *crazy, fun and original*

when they cry *long series...but really creepy and good*

Paprika * must see film...trippy as all hell*

Ergo Proxy * one of my favorite series...hard to explain*

Princess Mononoke *fucking epic film*

Black Lagoon *series...lots of action*

Read or die *film version....orginal and fun*

Tekkonninkreet *very original film...good action, trippy...just great *cept for one kids voice acting in the english dub*

wicked city *old film, one of the first anime i ever seen, very violent and sexual*

Kite *make sure to get the uncut film...great action...rough...pre tty hardcore sex*

Chrono Crusade *fun series...about a nun killing demons..pretty light but fun*

Eureka Seven *Original series...just awesome*

Bust angels *series...great action...lots of hot chicks but pretty light*

iria zeiram *old but fuckin great....good story...good action...just good*

oh and of course Evangelion...the original is great..truly epic but they just recently remade it and i like the new version better....its almost exactly the same so far but man is the animation sooooooooo much better looking.

Also Macross Plus... be careful because there is a ton of different macross films but that one is really good...transforming airplanes and pilots fighting over woman basically

paranoia agent *series....hard to explain good mind fuck*

sky crawlers *directed by Mamoru Oshii the dude who made ghost in the shell...about kid pilots (they are forced to stay young genetically* who fight a eternal war. I liked it a lot...some others say its to slow..it one a bunch of awards

Last Exile *another fighter pilot series...i love the animation and good mix of action and intrigue*

Origin * awesome movie about kind of a man vs nature tale...hard to explain but great*

Vexille *its a CG anime (that part sux..it looks great but yeah...would rather it be animated traditionally) but its fuckin awesome just tons of action....great flick

Memories *its actually 3 shorter animes in one...they differ dramatically but its really good*

X the film and the series...both are really good but the animation is showing its age a bit

Gunslinger Girls * series about little girl assassins...i liked it*

Speed grapher *hard to explain...this lil girl gives people magic powers and some cult worships and rapes her and some photographer saves her after he gets the magic power of being able to make people explode by taking their picture* i really liked it...series

Gurren Lagann * again hard to explain....undergrou nd people....mecha...cr azy*

Wolfs Rain *lol hard to explain series wiki it*

claymore *demon girl with giant sword hunts other demons...lost of action...series*

Also Escaflowne *the film is better i think but there is also a series...about mecha and some girl who awakens it after being sent from earth to another dimension*

Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo...the art style is SOOO fuckin kewl man...worth watching for that alone but yeah its loosely based on the book but happens in the distant future 5000 something or other and has space travel and all kinds of other wacky shit....

pretty sweet looking isnt it? and its pretty much always like that....so awesome on acid! (my wife and i just loved it but we only got through one disk then we ended up getting lost under our blankets)

Serial Experiments Lain *now this is one of my favorite anime of all time but definately not for everybody...no action...all mind fuck...its hard to explain *i bet u dint see that coming* but its kinda about if the people who talk to on the internet really exist....are we all kind of ghosts in a way who inhabit the world of the net only. Do i really exist or am i just some ghost in your computer pretending i exist.* Again not for everybody but man i really love this one

Soul Eater is fucking dope. And I know it's on Netflix cause that's where I watched it.
Set at the "Death Weapon Meister Academy," the series revolves around three teams consisting of a weapon meister and (at least one) human weapon. Trying to make the latter a "Death Scythe" and thus fit for use by the academy's headmaster, Shinigami (better known as Death), they must collect the souls of 99 evil humans and one witch

yeah soul eater is pretty good, its pretty much a comedy and action in equal parts. Also if u buy the actual dvd/blu rays u get a pretty sweet sticker with each volume. I have 1-3 right now....gonna pick up vol 4 one of these months. Its also on netflix

No i havent seen Rin yet Terry but it is in my instant queue as we speak. I might watch it tonight sense it has your recommendation.

U know i wasnt much of a trigun fan either...I own the first volume on vhs *i got it right when it came out in america originally cause every magazine was saying how great it was* and i gotta say...i thought it was kind of a let down. I dint find Vash to be very likable and it dint have much in the way of violence/gore and sex that i was looking for at the time. That was when i was in high school though so like 11 or more years ago *omg thats hard to say* so maybe i would like it more now...might re-watch it if i get really bored one day.
