By packing i mean hitting the top of the pack against your palm a couple times before you open it. This compresses the tobacco (you can see extra paper at the end of each cigarette) making it burn slower.


Just curious because i've noticed a lot more pot smokers than non pot smokers doing this for some reason.

When I smoked cigs I did.. Now if I smoke its when I'm drinkin heavily and I'll by a black and mild plastic tip cigar.. But not very often bc I know I'll start smoking again for sure.

for sure, spirits burn slow enough to being with. I always end up being the last person smoking when i buy those (and i'm a pretty quick smoker), which sucks in the winter when no-one wants to keep you company while you finish

I packed, 3 times, flip, 4 times.

7 because I liked the number, but really because I was a very casual smoker at first and my cigs would get knocked around and I would lose tobacco out of the ends. This is actually why I started packing smokes. Until I noticed it, I just at the chimps* who packed their cigs.

*there was an anti smoking commercial that ran when dirt was just broken it, which had an a shot of a guy google eyed over a girl as he packed his smokes. It was edited with a another shot of a chimp dressed like the guy doing the same thing.

I felt like the burn was slower and more consistent when the cigarette was packed.

Yeah, but I fucking suck at it. So usually I pack them individually by popping them filter side down a few times against a table or something.

Yes, 1 cig at a time, not the whole pack. Though I hardly ever smoke pre rolleds nowadays.

I think a better word is "tamp".

When I smoked cigs, I "packed" them because I had seen other, older smokers do it. It looked cool. I wasn't consistent, however. I did it more in public, as opposed to packs I opened privately.

I can't even remember what the veteran smoker told me when I asked "why is this important to do?" Somethng about getting all the tobacco to where it should be seems to be the logical conculsion. No?

By the way, I quit cigs more than 6 years ago, with the help of Wellbutrin. However, I seemingly smoke way more Chronic these days. Oh well...
