I live in Whittier CA. In this city there is one legally operating medical marijuana clinic, it has the approval of the local city council and the clearance from the local police department to operate. There are also two other dispensaries open in town operating illegally, too close to schools/churches/residents to meet the city statute, one of these is about a ½ mile from my house. It's a nice place, it's in a building that used to be dilapidated and a home for transients but has since been refurbished into not only a MM clinic but also a 12 step church and a recording studio.

Now regardless of the immediate good it has done to an otherwise shit hole neighborhood I'll admit they were open without the proper shit and the guys who were running the place knew it was just a matter of time before the cops came. Well today the cops came.

So yeah fuck it, I'm not gonna argue about it's wrong to bust them or they should have got the right permits or any of that shit, you roll the dice and takes your chances like anything else.

What got me was the amount of force used on this here 'raid' on a dangerous drug den, the timing was rather sucky too, the actions of the police made the entire process way more dangerous than it had to be. At least a dozen heavily armed and armored police screeched up in unmarked civilian style cars and pick up trucks and smashed the windows out with M-16's drawn and ready to blow the heads off the hot young chicks who tend bud there and the two security guards who are actually really chill guys who would have absolutely opened the door for one or two uniformed officers with a warrant to come inside and do what the court says it's fine to do.

But no, the police need to storm trooper in at high noon on a Wednesday right around the time the school down the block let out their kindergarten class, smashing glass and ripping down unlocked doors.


Smooth, real smooth.


This drug war is really starting to become visible for the waste of resources it really is, you could tell by some of the locals who were asking the same question I was.

"Fuck man, was all this really necessary? I mean, I met the guys, they're pretty cool, I'm sure they would let you in."

I'm sure I'm preaching to the choir here but I would have much rather the money spent on closing down a local business in the fashion they did been spent on running the local gang members out of the apartment across the street from the dispensary who have been living there way longer than the store was open. Seems to me even the people who don't smoke pot would rather an actual scourge be eradicated, not just the one that'll garner the most money.


So yeah, in closing I would like to say.

I would imagine that many police departments take the existence of legal marijuana shops as an affront to their authority, so when they get their chance to bust one, they do it with emotion. I really do think that a lot of these guys feel like "the hippy pot heads" are pointing and saying "ha, ha!" at them.

Wow, seems they raided the local doctors office as well, the one where like 100% of everyone I know got cards. Thankfully, one will seriously hope, HIPPA will shield anyone with any type of anything to do with a medical condition or doctors and all that shit due to confidentiality laws.

At least we can hope.

Feds raided ten clinics in Montana about a month ago. People were pissed. The day is coming where the MMJ states will outnumber the others, and I doubt the feds will have the balls to take them all on.
