i swear i feel like this is the day my childhood died.
no new space programs, the best awesome program is comming to an end, and thanks to obama the new constellation program that had everyone excited is hopelessly delayed.... and even today they are talking about re-tooling the constellation concepts and using the orion for something new - so even tho they cancelled it and fucked it up, (obama did) even tho he did that nasa came back and said well it was a good idea so if you want us to do anything new ever its gonna pretty much be the same fucking thing. all the talk about "waiting to develop new ships" and better tech was just bulshit- yea i hope they do someday....but any rocket program that will get us up in the next few years let alone next 20 years will be based on relatively current maybe somewhat upgraded tech- the apollo programs tech plus a few modern improvements would get us safely to the moon TODAY just like it did in 1969... such a bittersweet moment. the shuttle is like fire or stone tools- 2 thousand years or 1 million years from now people will remember this time of humanity for few things. one of them will be the space shuttle.... the first reusable spaceship earthings ever created.  smoking one for ya endeavor !

the gov is broke so they must outsource spaceship building to private contractors then lease them, the program is not dying it is just re-tooling as this is the bridge period between the antiquated beasts to more reliable mass transit models...

Don't worry guys. I'm gonna help develop the technology that'll get us going out there as much as we want, any time, anywhere.
I didn't grow up watching star wars and star trek to never see it fucking happen.
