Had a real bummer day Tuesday, I won't forget for awhile.

I was going to work on a local 4 lane, north-bound, and got stopped by sudden standstill in traffic. I was fussin' and cursin' the dumb asses that prolly had a fender bender up ahead, traffic was backed up about a mile I guess, and I knew I was gonna be late.
Finally I get to where I can see some ambulance lights ahead on the outer left side of the south bound side, at a major intersection. But I don't see any cars, then I notice a white sheet in the road in the left south-bound lane, which is closest to me. Then I notice a car pulled over on the right side of the road with the windshield smashed in on the passenger side and the fender crunched. The cops got the yellow tape across the whole south-bound side, so there is no traffic... I was like wtf? then I notice a shoe about 10 yards behind the sheet with orange spray pain around it, and another shoe about 10 yards in front of the sheet with orange paint around it. Then I look, and can't believe what I am seeing.... there is hunks of flesh all over the road, something about as big as your hand, and smaller pieces everywhere. I was like omg! Seems like some dude tried to cross the highway, or commit suicide went across about 6am, when the light wasn't so good. He was only about 50 feet from the cross walk, but chose not to cross there, he was hit by several cars. The people said he just appeared out of nowhere before they could do anything.... 54 yrs old....That shit was in my mind all day, don't think I have ever seen anything that bad before....

I can relate.

I remember the first time I came across a simular scene. It was about 23 years ago. I was witness to many others soon there after, but it was that first time that made the deepest impression.

People whose daily living it is to deal with such things develop different ways to cope, such as humor, but for the rest of us it leaves a deep memory that stays raw.

August last year on my birthday I was staying at a hotel when I came out for a smoke and saw that some dude had jumped from a window and left himself all over the street below. Wasn't until later that I realized that he probably jumped from a room above mine and given I was on the third floor, probably plummeted right past me and I never noticed.

Definitely some strange emotions after you run into something like that. Something to do with our being accustomed to being so utterly immersed in living that when we meet death unexpectedly we don't have any choice but to readjust our attitude toward reality.

Crazy shit, man. Makes you take stock, for sure.

I'm a little blown away man. That whole scene must have been horribly intense. That goes for all ya, really.

Hey thanks ya'll

yeah, was definitely a sombering moment.... shows you how fragile life can be.... I still can't understand how someone could do that, He either wanted to die, was tore up on something, or completely immersed in a cell phone conversation. I hope he died on the first impact, and yes, Jonas, I am surely glad I wasn't one of the ones that hit him. I saw a group of 4 or 5 young spanish women standing off the road by the car with the smashed windshield, I think they might have been one of the cars that hit him....sure feel sorry for them And thanks Sage, yeah, I'm ok..... maybe this will help me focus more on living day by day, and enjoying life more.

Don't know if I'm supposed to post this here, but I think this song fits here very well
