I haven't watched South Park in a while but was urged to watch this episode by a friend, and I'm glad I did. Not only were the laughs huge and plentiful for me (Starting with the one teenager saying "Tween Wave is Swheet!" and moving onto Stan runnin through the gersploosh playlist, Randy in his entirety, and the theatre scenes), but the episode itself seemed very self-aware and poignant. I've read interviews where Stone and Parker were openly admitting the dread of having to come up with new ideas for this final season (Why South Park's Trey Parker and Matt Stone Now Say It's 'Wrong' to Offend - The Hollywood Reporter), and after 15 years who can blame them. It seems as though they themselves are getting too old.

Nevertheless, the idea of growing up and the cynical realizations of things seeming like shit, tied in with literal shit, worked perfectly. When I read a quick review for the episode that mentioned the plethora of shit jokes, I was hesitent to watch for fear of the episode being total garbage. But it's actually very well done in that it adds that literal, over-the-top South Park layer to an otherwise meaningful and heartfelt episode.

I'm actually much more intrigued to watch the second half of the season.
