So as of today I plan to join in the globalization!

Kinda...

'Acquired' a copy of a Rosetta Stone program with about a dozen and a half different languages, they are basic lessons but it is useful for instance in helping to recall some of the three years I spent in Herr Neumann's German for Beginners class.

I was actually fluent in 'book German' at one time but with no one to speak to it seems to have been lost in the banks on my head.

I did the first couple of Spanish 1 lessons and am shocked to find I know considerably more than I think, what with living in SoCal all my life I guess you just sort of absorb it.

I'll need to pick up a headset because some of the lessons want me to talk back to them and a lot of language is about how you say something as well as what it is you say so I better get that one figured out.

I want to concentrate on the 'street languages' like Spanish and Vietnamese and Tagalog and Mandarin but I'll be learning my familial tongue as well if I can deal with it.

Da svidanya comrade!

Immersion is the best way to learn. You speak what is around you and you'll get it for sure man.

Sounds cool oneder. German is a pretty kick ass language, and as a plus you'll be able to read all the tech manuals in the language their supposed to be read in.

I wish my dad had the techincal knowhow to acquire software online.

yeah, i insinuated that you are hella old. Which are oneder. Right?

Not a bad thing at all. I read this pretty great quote that said something like "don't complain about getting older, not everyone gets to try it".. Or something like that.

We're all getting older buddy. And at the exact same rate to boot!

I'm bad at learning languages.

I only know french because I was forced to speak it for half of every day in school.

the english speaking world often forget that they forced the rest of us to be bilingual.

It's cool though. A common language is a pretty agreeable thing.

It's kind of a given that you should know english. I don't know if it counts as my second.

And herein lies the motivation Timmy...

Putting down more than one language on a resume is a big help if you can't throw down a bunch a book learnin'.

And I'm only forty fucking three!
