So I'm a dumbass that just about walked himself into trouble with the popo

Here's the story:

I'm in a new place living by myself, and was getting some last things moved out of my old place while the new roommates were moving in.

Actually, I was smoking a joint in my old place while the new tenants were moving stuff in. Fast forward to the end of the joint and standing in the front yard while the other guys were taking furniture out of the truck.

Two girls and what I guess was a mom go cruising by on bikes and start razzing us about the smell, and that "he" better not smell it. I look down the road and only see who I guess is dad riding down the street. "Odd, I guess he really doesn't like weed, and boy, joints sure smell more than bong rips I used to take here," I think to myself.

Being high and already having forgotten about what the girls had said, here comes a police car down the street. I'm figuring he's going to smell it but will be going fast enough that he won't stop.

NOPE. He slows down before he gets to the house and stops in the street at the driveway. Now I'm thinking it must really smell and someone must have called the police. He stays in his car, but says "hey" and motions with his finger to come to the passenger window. At this point he says something to the effect of "did they tell you..." and this is when I almost get myself in trouble.

I say "yeah, they (motioning toward the bikers) just mentioned it and we're all done." He has a half-puzzled look on his face and goes on to tell me about some 'dopers and thieves' living around the corner and to call the police if we see any suspicious activity. Mind you he had to have smelled the weed and had to have seen my bloodshot eyes.

I tell him thanks and that I'll let the other guys know. Then he drove off.

To top it off a woman with a stroller and a couple kids walks by immediately after and says "smells good!"

I'm still kicking myself in the head. Moral of the story: don't talk to cops.

TL;DR: Stunk up my whole yard and called out on it by passing strangers right before cop rolls up. Thinking/paranoid he's there for the weed, I fess up without even an accusation. He acts like he doesn't notice.

yeah I talk to cops all the time high. Most of them honestly don't care, and I know several who smoke. One of the apartments downtown that my friend lives in has a night security guard that's a police officer, and he'll smoke with us when we see him walking the parking lot.Where I'm at, their focus is on violent crime. You're just being sketch. Don't smoke in public areas if you dont want people to compliment your beautiful aroma.

Had a similar friendly encounter with a cop just last night.

You get used to talking to police after living in a complete police state your entire life i guess.
