People use a flame for heat source to smoke forever. Since vaporizer invented, some smokers use vaporizer to smoke, because the smoking material taste better, no harmful smoke inhaled, and use less material to get the same buzz.

In order to vaporize smoking material, all you need is hot air stream, temperature around 400 degrees F. When the right temperature hot air stream passing through smoking material, the active ingredient of the smoking material will start to boil and vaporize.

Because the temperature of the hot air stream is lower than the combustion temperature of the smoking material, there will be no harmful smoke produced or inhaled.

Most smokers don't use a vaporizer, the number one reason is most vaporizers are not cheap. Number two reason is all vaporizers on the market are inconvenient. Some use electric power, some are not portable, some use a flame filter which causes inhalation resistance and unable to reload smoking material without detach it from the pipe.

The simplest way to transfer hot air flow from a flame to smoking material and reduce temperature of the flame exhaust by mixing it with ambient air, which does not cause inhalation resistance or reloading difficulty, is to attach an elbow tubing over the material holding bowl.

The way i smoke bowls is to not let the flame touch the herb and just pull the heat from the flame. Get a good clean rip or two, then let the flame hit to finish it off.

You dont really need the elbow joint piece if you can control the pull of your breath well enough.
Good idea for bongs though, where controlling the pull is harder b/c of water.

Pretty good idea, most lighter-powered vapes make you heat up the metal directly

Those heat guns for drying paint work a lot better though, and you dont have to make a new bong for it

idk if it's safe to use a copper fitting to smoke with. I work with that stuff for a living and if we dont let nitrogen flow through it while we solder, the copper burns and flakes.

Granted thats at over 1200 degrees and lighters are closer to 300.

I was thinking the same thing except I was remembering you never build a moonshine still with copper tubing cuse it will leach into the moonshine and turn it into poison! ( you can test it by burning the shine, it'll burn green if there was any copper in the still otherwise it burns blue)

Anyway, it made me think I dont want to be heating up the copper like that.

You shouldn't smoke out of copper. steel and thick aluminium are the ideal metals.

also, copper is used in stills because it removes sulfur based compounds from your booze. these days they are usually made of stainless steel lined with copper.
