A few years ago they made a big deal about it...Something to do with terrorism...So now you need to have one.

But in any event, I have crossed the US/Canadian border numerous times with and without a passport both at border stations and on logging roads. I don't think it's a bad thing to have but I really wonder what they think having a passport will do that a birth cert wont.
