ISO: Interview assistance

So, I'm trying to move back to California. But I'm still living in wisconsin. I can't leave until I have a job (they are demolishing my apartment to build a road, and i have to have a new job in a different area first for them to do whatever and give me my $$). Has anyone ever done this? Are employers willing to do phone interviews or am I just wasting my time?

Very few employers will be willing to employ without interviewing face to face, if that answers.

However if an employer expressed a strong interest over the phone it would be well worth getting to the interview if the job is half decent.

I'm still trying to get a good listing of a job to apply to.

hope your line of work has nothing to do with manufacturing.

many now require backround, drug, and even credit checks.

I finally told CareerBuilders (assorted head hunters in one group) "Hey, I just want a job making/building shit...I don't want to join Homeland Security or the CIA"

but to be on topic: an intern I worked with did the phone interview thing, and he and several others were flown from Pittsburgh to Boston for a group interview over dinner.

but that was 10 years ago.

tell them the story of your apartment being demolished as if it weren't your apartment but the entire earth and then you suddenly got beamed up to a space craft and had all kinds interstellar voyages...

technically, you'll rarely talk to "employers", even at interviews.

you'll talk to their head hunters "human resources" personel.

unless it's pizza hut or wendy's you're applying.

I know for a fact ,

the Army will fly you in for an "interview".
