Republicans got everything they wanted, and more.

Democrats gave in on every point.

Next election I vote independent, or write in Ron Paul.

If you want to know the outcome of ANY major battle in Washington, just ask yourself what's good for the banks. The outcome of whether we would default on the national debt should have been a no-brainer, yet everyone went back and forth on it like there was a REAL threat of it happening. Americans have gotten the government their stupid asses deserve.

We all expected the House to pass it, since it has nearly everything they wanted and the republicans are in the majority.

senate hasn't voted yet, nor has Obomba signed it.

asian markets are down again.

opening trends are down for france, germany, and UK.

What a deal ! Democraps didn't have to give any of there precious welfare programs up, and it's still business as usual in DC, running up the deficit. But I do agree with the Ron Paul for president statement you made, don't care for Bill Maher tho.

democrats gave up on every point.

Nothing was resolved about the debt. The whole debate became whether to raise the debt ceiling, and by how much. Something that in my lifetime has never been debated before. The just of the compromise was to more everything down the road to be debated again in a few months.

I take offense to you calling them "the deomcrats precious welfare programs"
How the fuck do you think some people will live without food or SSI when their 70 or older and can't work...after having paid into these programs all their lives.

Were you hatched on a rock and have no parents/grandparents. Perhaps you were born to some millionair who hasn't paid taxes for the last 15 years ?

Perhaps you feel like old/poor/unemployed people should just be put to death ?

Correct me if I'm wrong...

Is not the retirement part of SS a law? The extra that we baby boomers paid in was borrowed by the federal government, in the form of T-bills. Those became part of the national debt. So, even with a balanced budget, those T-bills are still a debt that would need to be paid. Right?

yes it's actually debt the government owes itself, for spending money received for the trust fund, but spending it on pork barrel projects.

There's no guarantee the committee, to be evenly split between the warring parties, will agree on such legislation.

But there are powerful incentives to do so because more budget gridlock would trigger a crippling round of automatic cuts across much of the budget, including Pentagon coffers.
