I'm always signed in. Yahooka has felt sort of empty lately. We need people to go on pilgrimages to other weed forums.

I've been blaming it on summer. Peeps got places to go, things to do, people to see, drugs to use...

mostly.

I agree with Roach bout summer but Sir-Ex has the golden ticket. I've been trying to find somewhere/someway to put Yahooka on the 420mag boards. I joined the other day bc I had same idea to try & recruit folks

there seems to be alot of guests on the boards which means Yahooka gets pretty decent traffic but I find it odd that we do not get more new members. Or if there are new members signing up, they do not seem to be posting alot.

I was a lurker on this site back in the day for about 3-4 months before I finally joined. But there was definitely a higher sense of entertainment back then, alot of humor and fun but also alot of information! I remember when Inquiring minds was really widely used. But the environment just seemed to draw you in and make you want to post and get involved in topics and errmmmmmm flame wars and such. (but there was always two legitimate sides back then)

Not to diss modern day Yahooka(it's still my fav forum on the net), but it certainly is nothing compared to what it was. It just seems like there is no balance. You get members that turn into "bad guys" because 12 - 15 members decide they don't like someone and that person is grossly singled out and really none of the other members care to get involved. I'm willing to bet even JFK isn't really disliked by all members, its just his haters are very open about their hate and other members don't want to get sucked into that even though they might disagree with the proverbial lynch mob.

I'm gonna go on record to say I have no problem with JFK whatsoever, or kishar for that matter.

I agree on everything but the hate part.
I don't hate any members on yahooka. JFK has made positive contributions to the boards. And he's made some comments/posts that make him out to be a knucklehead.
Something probably half the members here have also done.
It's always been eat or be eaten on YaHooka since oh probably 05.
It was the constant flame wars of 02-03 that caused many members to just leave.
So yea, there needs to be some balance, between harmless ribbing and outright character assassination.

I'll wait for a ruling from Sage/admin on this topic. As I'll be reporting this (my own post)
for mod/admin review.
Interesting observation.

Not to say its not true, but there has always been threads on yahooka that turn into discussions about how 'yahooka used to be better'.

People say YaHooka used to be better, but the way I see it, EVERYTHING used to be better. But like everything else, YaHooka's novelty factor has a shelf life. For those of us who've been on here for a long time, there's just a lot less that's new, and more and more of the same old same old. Such is life.

I see good friends here every day. I don't care if the conversation doesn't score a perfect 10 every time I'm here. I still love the place.

Yea I with Rev on this. nostalgia has a way of removing the ugly/bad. You only remember the good. I'm sure, Yahooka wasn't that great back then. It's more selective memory.

Funny enough, back in the day summer used to be THE craziest time.
Lots of younger people poured in and that was always high mod-ing season and when a lot of the 'shit' went down.
The climate in that regard has been pretty mind for a long time though.
In the last several years though, I'd say summer has been quiet.

More folks coming in on the regular, and visiting daily now, but not posting, which is different from not even lurking.

Having an 'all public' board might effect that as well.
Sort of a 'why join?' for some I'm sure.
You can have the 'milk' without the $$$ (time to register).

I usually pass over the 'who visited' today list and shot people a VM or PM saying 'hi and welcome' hoping they'll be encouraged to post a little more.

But over all, we have had more regular attendance and some posting by new blues.

Why do you think 'members' don't get involved and are you so sure they don't?

Is this an issue for 'mods' to tackle more or not in your opinion?

~ Also, I don't 'hate' anyone here either and not exactly sure that is the adj. I'd use for anyone's opinion of another here.~

You don't need my approval to say those things.... even though they are pretty dead on.

If we aren't going to be a growing community, I figure we mid-as-well try out best to be a close community. While still trying to welcome in some new folks and keep the old heads that come back.

Me too.

Last week or so I posted a yahooka link in a grass city forum.
Apparently a good member there was banned unfairly and his friends were pissed.
I said he was here and could find him easily.
So there are a lot of new grasscity folks here, although they have been lurking around the Mellow Stoners more than anywhere else.

I stay over there because that is where a lot of the older yahookas when in 02-03, as mentioned by Roach. I would have been 20 at the time... so I imagine they were at least 5-10 years older than me, at the time, making them 10-15 years older than the teenagers joining at the time. And if memory serves me, some of you cats where REALLY young , >14, at the time.

I do have to say the new folks from grasscity are great. They stay relatively quite, but like sage said they post in mellow smoke a lot. stop by and say hello.

Is this place smart phone compatible?

Is there something other than tapatalk ($2.99 really?) for us cheap bastards?

There are a lot fewer people sitting in front of a PC for entertainment these days and face it, this place is pretty much entertainment.

Not sure, you should ask in the Feedback forum or suggest a course of action.

To my knowledge people DO access Yahooka from a mobile, but RE said that TC was maybe thinking of commissioning him to do a more compatible version.

I'm pretty tech-derp, and that is about as best as I can answer ya.
