I should record the insanely overly dramatic evacuation message I got on my answering machine. Fucking hysterical.

Hate to break it to ya: but I'm a NJ roach. We're radioactive and I'm pretty sure you can't kill us.

I was in the middle of a crazy lightening storm last night and there was a "severe emergency advisory".

Not nearly as serious as a hurricane though. It is pretty scary even though it's on the other side of the continent. Pacific ocean ftw!

I was living on Long Island when Hurricane Gloria passed right over the top of us. Shit was wrecked, and then all of a sudden is was so nice And then shit was wrecked again.

Two days before it hit us we started prepping. Taping windows, pulling rugs up-we stacked the couch on the kitchen table before we left water, extra food just in case. Just in case - No power for two weeks, no water for almost two weeks. You really appreciate indoor plumbing after having to conserve water and flushing twice a day. We didn't eat at home for two weeks. Just bought food and went 'inland' as if that exists on L.I., and ate with family and friends that had power.

We were 1/4 mile from the south shore, so my neighborhood looked like Godzilla paid a visit. I'll never forget coming back as we got closer to our house and thinking "this doesn't look like our road." Trees where stripped of leaves-it looked like someone decided to paper mache everything that wasn't a tree with all the leaves.

A lot of dead mailboxes-disappeared or were laying in the yard. One was five houses down. It had managed to make it through two sets of hedges, an undeveloped lot, and a fairly thick row of pine trees.

Even though the water got close, about 60 yards away, the fact that it was low tide when Gloria hit helped tremendously. But winds that are a 100+ mph-they still fuck some shit up, man.

Scatter, I hope things are different for you.

Luckily this aint no Gloria. I don't anticipate seein winds up over 70 per by the time we see it. Not a weatherman, but idk. Dusted off the anemometer today, so I'll report back . We're nearly 4mi. inland, in the woods, generator, still have our well hooked up, so we're sittin pretty compared to most out there. Our main concern is down trees and the wind catchin the solar panels. Fingers crossed.

Well we've got a dude named Otis who wants to be the mayor for starters.

Nah mostly I was just being a smartass because I don't foresee all the scary 'oh god we're all gonna get swept away into the ocean!" or 'omg the end of days!" nonsense amounting to much else besides some flooding of Fell's Point and OC, which given their vicinity to water happens with some frequency anyway. Plus the city itself is supposed to be mostly spared last I heard. But basically I got beers to drink and fun to have.

I thought of a great idea. Hurricane street racing.

Get a bunch of cameras set up before hand and lay out a route, that'd be one AWSOME fucking video.

lol there is a mandatory evacuation of a bunch of shore towns here in jersey. im a 1/4 mile from the mandatory evacuation area lol. I live less than a mile from the beach, even closer to a large bay, and my apartment complex is right beside a canal.

not going anywhere.

Shit floods pretty bad in certain areas in my town and surrounding areas with only little rain lol. Shits definitely getting wet.

I live on a second story and around my block doesnt really flood so i think ill be alright.

Bored as shit if the power goes out, but alright. I got weed.
