I do have a question though: 1% milk has 10 mgs of cholesterol, which doesn't seem like much. Do you have any instructions or advice or leanings to skimmed milk products?
Jeez, I guess I'll have to get rid of my pot smoking cat.

Whole milk only has 3% fat. I laugh at the 1% or 2% milk drinkers who think they are getting 98% or 99% less fat than whole milk.

I don't know if that was directed at my post but I agree. When I said "only" 3% fat, I meant that in comparison to 1% and 2% milk. In my opinion skim milk is the only way to go.

wasn't directed at anyone in particular, I just found it interesting when I was comparing the two for a family member a ways back.

i never really ever got the reactions you guys are describing when i said i was a vegetarian. most people either know about it or don't care to ask further questions.

i do know people who claim to be vegetarians but continue to eat fish

Hey, vegan porn, no kidding:

Veg Porn :: Titillating Tofu Eaters

Not very uh. . . stimulating, but I'd do the chick with hairy legs and the bicycle.

Exactly the same here. Meat is a gourmet addition, not a daily main course. I think Michael Pollan said it best:

"Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants."

I also believe in the blood type diet. Everyone needs something different, and some bodies really need the proteins, vitamins and minerals that meat and/or animal products contain.

But everything in moderation....includ ing moderation itself!

MEOWZOR!!!!!!!

My cat can't stand the smell of herb smoke (side note)

I too go skim 99% of the time, and I happened to have a 1% milk (which we hardly ever have, milk that is) and noticed the content, so thought I'd ask if a reduced or removed fat/cholesterol level would be more acceptable to what his and the doctors aims are.

Hope it's going well btw OM&tW.
And that people aren't giving you too much flack.
A little flack can give you a chance to share some new information with people and perhaps help/aid their own health?
Unfortunately, most folks don't 'hear' sometimes, they just want to tell you/justify why their meat eating is 'all good'

Ah well... no hard feelings

Ugh... Sorry, but this logic drives me crazy! Fat and calories are not the only thing, and I know you know this I'm not trying to sound degrading, just using your post to make a point.
I hear so many people saying ooo nuts, ooo milk... even oooo fruit it has soo much sugar. If you ever eat anything processed you are not allowed to say whole milk, or nuts or anything like that is unhealthy. You can not get the nutrient in whole foods the way you can from a vitamin.

I love... like Michael Pollan, I think he is an ok cook at best, but I really enjoy his philosophies, one of my most favorites being, "you can eat as much junk food as you want, as long as you make it at home...and not from a box" He also have a great no knead bread recipe I use it all the time. nothing beats making your own bread... and not using a bread machine!

One thing I've discovered is, for the most part, I don't go in for fake meat.

The first thing I did upon embarking upon this new way of eating was to order a selection of fake meats from Amazon. I should have saved my money. It didn't taste bad, it is just unnecessary.

The foods just are fine as is. It's silly to dress up a bean as a steak.

Except for toferky. It's pretty good.

I had a funny conversation with my boss the other day.

He asked me is it vegan to eat pussy?

I had to think about it...technically its not vegan, but it does fall under vegetarians, as you aren't really hurting an animal.

This falls under indian definition of vegetarians, who can eat/drink unfertilized eggs, milk and honey.

I suppose it's impossible to be truly vegan, as we all swallow our own spit from time to time.

Reminds me of amputee porn.

How is your new found veganinity treating you? Shitting three times a day yet?

Don't really dig those tofurkey things too much, and fake meat is generally pretty mediocre as a whole. There are some things that are pretty amazing though, as well as some that are just fucking vile.

And lol at komp but uhh pussy is rather vegan bro. You could make more of a case for swallowing semen not being vegan if anything.

Why? My dad had a major heart attack and is from a different world than me as far as nutrition. He has a hard time understanding nutritional concepts, as far as the science behind things - he's just never been exposed to it. He grew up in a time where milk was good for you, regardless of what's in it. He didn't have it in his mind that he shouldn't be drinking whole milk. It was a good way to illustrate it for him.
But lol I guess?
