Nardwuar the Human Serviette
I remember seeing Nardwuar on MuchMusic when I was younger but I always just saw him as annoying and couldn't really see past that. I recently rediscovered him yesterday, and now I can really see how unique and great he is as an interviewer. His personality almost makes him a litmus test for character in whoever he interviews, and the dedication and research he puts into each interview is amazing. He may be wacky on the surface, but underneath is a die-hard music aficionado who deserves respect.
Of his countless interviews, these are a few recent ones I'd consider favourites: Tom Morello has a voice for radio. Blur are total dicks, who knew?

Nardwuar is brilliant. I love how he throws people off so much with his personality, then drops HEAVY music knowledge on them before they have time to recover

Nardwuar is awesome, I was starting to wonder what happened to him. Haven't seen him on much music forever, haven't watched it in forever either though.

ya, i think its one thing to play with the guy a bit, but he was being rude. trying to intimidate him and it didnt even really work.

you guys blur was playing along with the gig. hes been doing this since the 80s and is a legend in the biz.
there are 2 common reactions to nuardwar from the artists: confusion and playing along with him they obviously know there are videotapes right in front of them and they know how they are going to come off in the video my favorite ones are the ones where the bands play along. its like performance art. check our nuardwar vs. sonic youth. shit is hilarious.

By the way waves, Dave (the guy from Blur) is into politics now and only recently appologized for -- and blamed a cocaine habit on -- his behaviour. The Sonic Youth interview is the only interview I've seen Nardwuar actually lose his cool and get pissed, after they break a record from his collection he was going to give to them.
