I want to walk back...

to England.. from Thailand.

How long do you think it would take?

Or.. I just want to do some crazy expedition.. that hasn't been done.. or rarely been done. The idea is to save and plan for a year and then JUST DO IT.

Basically I got a bad case of athletes foot.. itching to explore and have some sort of new adventure.. but just not on the beaten path.

The Silk Road, looks like it'd be a fun, OLD SCHOOL and very interesting way to get yourself back over to Europe's way....

Now.. I don't mean.... exactly following it perhaps.... but something that tracked along that way

I remember watching this pbs documentary one time about these two guys who traveled the same path Marco Polo took on the silk road n shit.

NOT an easy journey at all. I remember the extreme trouble they had just getting into some of the middle eastern countries. Just getting the visas and shit was enough of a problem.

The crazy thing about that trip was how so much of the shit they were reading about in Marco Polo's diary was EXACTLY the same today as it was back then.
Some areas of the world have seen very little change its cool.

But yeah Mescalito, im itchin to explore as well. good luck to ya my friend.

Hey Thanks for mentioning it. 'Spice Road' is one I saw from BBC, also really good.

No doubt those are still hard roads to go through. Afghanistan has never been conquered for a reason Alexander the Great pretty much just passed by it without trying even! Smart dude!

I would like to make that trip or parts of it, myself, but there is no doubt I'll not be getting along so easily with a US passport.... and will wait until I get a Canadian one, once we're permanently here and settled.

Crazy note and the notes still being applicable!

You could couchsurf and workaway back home if you'd like to modernize the gypsy lifestyle a bit.

I'll rep. couchsurfing as an AWESOME experience.
Even if you don't do it for THIS trip... keep it in mind.

My Wife and I are also members of workaway, which I feel is only a matter of time before we take advantage of that.
There are some very cool posting on that site as well.

Good mention Komper!

Maybe she said she was a Canadian man.

The silk road idea sounds awesome. But I forgot to mention.. fuck the cold.

If I was to do it it would be through Bhutan and India... not way up there in coldville.

Keep tha ideas coming yo! [Waits for bouncy boobs dude.. oh yeah fenderbender to come]

This would be cool...

or... what would be really hardcore would be to just start walking.. and take stuff as it comes.. I wonder how easy it would be to do the whole route without any official border crossings!?

Some stand out countries though.. Bhutan (pristine environment), India (been already though) Nepal (mountains), Russia (just because its RUSSIA and its pretty crazy really..), and most countries in eastern europe would be cool.. western europe Ive done em all already.. but I have some family in France and a big sack of weed with my name on it in Holland.

I see what you are saying.... but....

When I say 'settle' I mean that we are 'officially' here in Canada to stay, not as immigrants or w/ visas.
Then we can get our Canadian Passport.
We DO travel now, although more continental wise....

I'd like to see some countries with a little less hindrance for being a Statey, or not getting hung out to dry by the States for having the 'wrong' stamps in my PP.

Now what I mean?
