i actually think this place has been pretty awesome the last year or 2, its gone thru phases definately.

actualy i really enjoyed our discussions during the bush years too. we had some pretty intense debates about everything from whether we should go into iraq (so damn thats 2003 already fuck its been a long time).

plus we've seen people come and go, and come back, and be like, hey guys i was in thailand for a year and did this cool shit so how are u doing (mescalito ) .

i personally think this place is awesome. and its also cool how our discussions have grown and matured as we have. like even if we are still childesh twats at heart, at least most of us know what to expect from each other, and so its almost like a microcosm of society on here...

a part of me thinks that this site and other internet forums are almost what has caused the rest of the world to become more "western" in the last 10 years. the arabs and the arab spring , and africans on the internet and stuff... they basically learned how to be like that from reading peoples comments on websites and forums and shit... and they saw like oh look even americans have huge disagreements about shit, but they manage to work em out, or at least, to not have society disintegrate because of disagreements.

its basically the same kind of idea that woodrow wilson and others had 100 years ago -the more connected the better, and for so many varied and mulidimensional reasons that i dont think wilson could have even imagined all the ways it would work.

remember how a few years ago there was hella modding goin on? like i got ban threats all the time and shit... i dont think ive changed much ,but maybe i have somewhat, but also its like that everyone just realized the more discussion, even if its got some garbage thrown in, the better.

so yea, in sum, i think this place has actually gotten better since the post 2006 bush malaise that everyone was feeling. i think now that weve all been chatting thru a republican and a democrat administration, we've all had the chance to see these issues from pretty much both sides and see the other sides position from our side... and with greater experience comes greater understanding...

plus we all or mostly have that introspective soul searching quality that comes from the herb. as jerry said "personally i feel the more people who turn on the better world it will be".
