so i don't know if i told you guys but im back in Hawaii, anyhow i just got the coolest job of my life!! I beat out 54 other applicants for a position as a paid intern monitoring Nene goose nests and working with the native plants in the Hakalau forest reserve!!! $1300 a month for twelve months and $5350 towards school after completion of the program sounded pretty good to me, not to mention they provide me housing five days out of the week and im going to be doing what i love! im so fucking excited!!!!! yaaaaa bitches!!!!!!!!!!
the only bummer is im no longer smokin da ganja but this opportunity is wayyyyyy more valuable to me then getting high. Hakalau Forest National Wildlife Refuge - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Hakalau Forest National Wildlife Refuge Welcome to Hakalau Forest National Wildlife Refuge

Heh.. stonerman!
That's awesome dude. I've had similar 'unpaid' positions in the past.. and it would have been great to get paid for it. Make the best of it! Anyway.. why you not smoking ganj anymore? It seems like the ideal job to be.. HIGH. M |

well although i would agree it sounds like the optimal job for burnin a doobie with the gooses i want to play it safe until im absolutely sure that there will be no drug testing or at least pass the initial test. Also i forgot to mention in my original post i get to use a government vehicle to 4-wheel up the mountain from the office in town so i would assume the likelihood of me being drug tested is rather high

ted-i was just asking myself that! but the reason i think i got it is cause i did so well on the interview. the guy was thrilled that i had plenty experience, from tropical agriculture work study in freshman year to self organized beach cleanups to even being a part of the PCC habitat restoration team while taking community college classes and finishing high-school online. Also the guy is from Alaska so he was stoked i was already very familiar with the area and the native/invasive species i was telling him things he didn't even know yet about Hakalau!

lol my parents own a house in Puna so that's where my dog will be and where i will be staying Saturdays and sundays
Edit-HOLY SHIT i just looked up the definition of Hakalau. Hakalau is a state of joyful awareness or meditative trance used by the Hawaiian KaHunas to explore and understand the world around them. It increases the ability to perceive exponentially, enabling remarkable feats in learning and awareness. One meaning of Hakalau is, "To stare at as in meditation and to allow to spread out." In Hawaiian shamanic tradition, the state of Hakalau is the process of entering an expanded field of consciousness, widening one's field of vision and entering a state of trance. Hakalau is one of the reasons why a shaman will seldom make eye contact with his apprentice or patient. The practical application of Hakalau is broad, especially for learning, for modeling someone, useful for sportspeople, musicians, dancers, artists, etc. Most creative people use the state of Hakalua to go unconscious at times. Hakalau is handy as a resource state whenever you feel yourself limited, or in need of some expansive insight or new learnings. Here is the basic method of going into Hakalua: 1. Looking forward, pick a spot ahead of you about 20 degrees above eye level in front of you. 2. Focus all your attention on this spot and let your mind relax. 3. Spread out your field of vision, to become aware of more in the periphery than in front of you. 4. Keep expanding your field of vision. 5. Place your awareness on the peripheral portion of your vision. 6. Stay in this state for as long as you can. Observe any states of heightened awareness or deepened understanding. i just tried it shit works!! made me all ecstatic for a minute! kinda similar to a flash back! very cool!

you can thank The U.S President Ulysses S. Grant 1871, he created The United States Fish and Wildlife Service. (FWS) is a federal government agency within the United States Department of the Interior dedicated to the management of fish, wildlife, and habitats. The mission of the agency reads as "working with others to conserve, protect, and enhance fish, wildlife, plants and their habitats for the continuing benefit of the American people."
and we need pictures.
