Well, he's actually a from Virginia.

James Buchanan was born in my hometown or I in his...
It's likely I've peed behind the same trees near his birth place state park, on the north end of the town.

So personally, I feel much closer to that weirdo than Prick Santorum.

Osama Bin Laden, from his 1998 fatwa entitled, "Jihad Against Jews and Crusaders":

"First, for over seven years the United States has been occupying the lands of Islam in the holiest of places, the Arabian Peninsula, plundering its riches, dictating to its rulers, humiliating its people, terrorizing its neighbors, and turning its bases in the Peninsula into a spearhead through which to fight the neighboring Muslim peoples. If some people have in the past argued about the fact of the occupation, all the people of the Peninsula have now acknowledged it. The best proof of this is the Americans' continuing aggression against the Iraqi people using the Peninsula as a staging post, even though all its rulers are against their territories being used to that end, but they are helpless.

Second, despite the great devastation inflicted on the Iraqi people by the crusader-Zionist alliance, and despite the huge number of those killed, which has exceeded 1 million... despite all this, the Americans are once against trying to repeat the horrific massacres, as though they are not content with the protracted blockade imposed after the ferocious war or the fragmentation and devastation. So here they come to annihilate what is left of this people and to humiliate their Muslim neighbors.

Third, if the Americans' aims behind these wars are religious and economic, the aim is also to serve the Jews' petty state and divert attention from its occupation of Jerusalem and murder of Muslims there. The best proof of this is their eagerness to destroy Iraq, the strongest neighboring Arab state, and their endeavor to fragment all the states of the region such as Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Sudan into paper statelets and through their disunion and weakness to guarantee Israel's survival and the continuation of the brutal crusade occupation of the Peninsula."

Rick Santorum, from 2011 GOP Debate:

"We were attacked because, as Newt talked about, we have a civilization that is antithetical to the civilization of the Jihadists. And they want to kill us because of who we are and what we stand for, and what we stand for is exceptionalism. We stand for freedom and opportunity for everybody around the world."

Isnt it so fucking ironic that this is the GOP stance?

This is exactly why we illegally invade countries under the name of liberation. What they stand for, terrorism and 9/11.

I guess people prefer to believe that those brown people in arabia really do hate freedom, exceptionalism, and opportunity for everyone in the world.

except we just had that whole arab summer thing where they all overthrew their dictators and all the nations that didnt are really damn close.

thats the thing about all this stuff that keeps me smiling. to go on a tangent here. im pretty optimistic about people in general. given enough time, they will evolve and better systems will naturally arise. tipping points need to be reached, time needs to be given, and all that you can really do with the rest of the world is accept it as it is and be patient as it gets slowly better.

this theory keeps proving itself to me in the real world with stuff like egypt, libya, etc.

i mean just look at that bullshit party line itself. how people can actually believe that depends on a bunch of other influences- the media, technology, the interconnecedtness of the world that the internet afforts, etc. as time goes on and these things advance bullshit party lines like this will simply not be able to exist. ignorance will literally be forced out of society as we collectively evolve.

i actually can appreciate it all as human bullshit drama and people working out their issues, which is just what life in general is.

its really a shame that such an honest stand up dude gets such a reaction, but that just goes to show the state of the GOP these days

they just want a ken doll who can say the right lines and has just the right amount of white, experienced hair to contrast his black, young, wild, "would have a beer with" hair.

This is exactly it too... it's taken me nearly three years to convince my mom that Dr. Paul has a great chance to win, if people will stop listening to the talking heads tell them that he doesn't. Her biggest hangups were his age and the fact that he's not the typical "good looking" JFK type of politician.

Unfortunately any non-interventionist on the democrat's side would get the same treatment.
