People hittin you up for rides

I can always sense someone trying to mooch a ride before they even say anything...

You're calling me at 9:30am?
You wanna buy me breakfast?
You're asking me what I'm up to today when you're tellin me you gotta work?
You ask me if I'm still driving these days?

lol...

i ain't mad at them for trying. i got hit up twice this morning by some friends looking to get rides to work. it's funny cause they always beat around the bush like that. seems like they're waiting for me to make an offer instead. that's not happening.

once they do come clean about their intentions, the bribes are never far behind.

GAS, GRASS or ASS (it's never ass, but it's often food)

more often than not i don't even answer the call because i can sense it so well. i didn't give them rides today because i knew damn well they could take care of themselves. anyhow, i know i'll get plenty more calls like it in the future.

I've given tons of people rides and try to turn down compensation whenever I can.

Me too... when i was 16 and driving was still cool. Driving is a headache now and gas ain't cheap. But I'm actually in the mood now to trade a ride for a bowl. Probably not gonna happen.

Do you hit your friends up for rides? I honestly cannot remember ever hitting up a friend for a ride. I pride myelf on being independant and capable of getting myself anywhere, anytime with my own resources. Not that my friends havent' scooped me up for a night out, that's happened plenty of times. I'm just obviously in a better position than they are to decline such solicitations, being that I have been so consistantly generous in the past.

No I've had my own transportation since I was 19 but I understand rough times and depending on the city and or place, public transportation in certain areas may not be that great.

If a friend of mine had a job and needed a ride, I wouldn't hesitate to do him the favor.

yea I've given people rides and i don't bitch about it since i never sense it coming and it isn't a routine thing. its one thing if they are cool and offer compensation (which i usually don't feel right accepting unless its a real hassle or long distance) for it and it only happens once in a while, but to get to work? fuck that

Its funny and sad how much people depend on cars.

I have biked at least 6 miles a day just to go to work every day for about a year and half now and its really no big deal, its actually enjoyable.
