fuckin phones
yeah cell phones are great and make many things very convenient. But damn it all sometimes I wish it was still the early 90's with no cell phones or instant messengers!
Nothin worse than getting stoned and then immediately the phone starts ringing, buzzzkill! Or when people IM you constantly! Ignore em' fine, but then you have to explain yourself later. I suppose my main gripe is that technology has evolved this far but innovations that allow you to ignore others (without them realizing) just aren't around. my Mom is the worst because she expects a call back right away or else I'm gonna hear it when I finally do. I wish I could just say "Well maybe I'm fucking high right now! Jesus!"

In spite of being on the national no call list with both my phone numbers, I still get spam calls on my cell and land line.
The cell isn't too bad because when unanswered spam comes in, you simply block the caller. The trick with the land line has become answer to phone , and say hello...if no one responds within 1 second you hang up, since it it takes an operator at least that long to figure out that their autodialer has made a connection.

@ TC and merc
just turn your phone off when you don't want any calls.

^why do you have a landline AND a cell phone? landlines are less expensive and more flexible, so i'm not saying they don't still make practical sense. but it's just conspicuous consumption to have BOTH landline and cell, you capitalist pig, you.

i find being an asshole to everyone all the time will strongly reduce the amount of calls you don't want to receive
or just don't answer your phone and say your on a texting only package, i've been doing that shit for like 2 years

I've found honesty to be the best option in this case. Seriously, anyone I know is understanding if my answer to their question of why I didn't answer is something like, 'I was busy working on something and didn't want to talk.'
Pretty reasonable if you ask me. You wouldn't go up to a friend in the middle of working on an engine and be like, 'hey stop what you're doing and talk to me.'

![]() Plus the land line was necessary for the internet package discount. The cell was my only phone up to about three weeks ago, and being a "pay as you go" account gold member with t-mobile, my minutes are good for a year regardless of the amount I add to it. The cell is also nice to have in case you're out and about and should need 911 or just want to snap a photo or record a sound . The land line is good to have when calling state agencies who put you on hold for hours at a time.

Well yeah I could just keep my phone off, but then who knows what I may be missing. I prefer text, makes everything simple but it's funny how usually the people you don't always want to talk to all the time are the ones who don't text.
Ex you make it sound simple, I guess it could be if I let it be
