Have you ever been bullied?
I've been bullied a few times in my day. Big kids pushing me around, calling me names, trying to scare me, trying to impress their girlfriends. There was this kid named Stephen who bullied me the most. He threw shit at me and wrestled me to the ground and shit. But me and Stephen were also friends sometimes and we would hang out in his cool fort in his backyard.
Another incident was one time I was walking home from school, about 6th grade, and a group of rollerblading bullies were circling me and telling me I looked like a girl and that they were going to jack me for my brand new Adidas jacket. And then there was always the random jokers who would just point and laugh at me and make fun of me for whatever reason. They're the ones who usually upset me the most. All in all, that was just kid shit. Now what I'm waiting for is the day when I'm walking home at night and a group of guys starts hastling me on the street, like in the movies, saying shit like "you're on the wrong side of town, buddy" and stand in my path and start pushing me around... ...lol, and I'd be all scared.... that would be cool. |

I was bullied a lot in Jr High. I won't lie, it got to me.
I did have the pleasure of having an encounter with one of my old bullies recently though. Time is kinder to some than others it seems.

My high school had a different social order. It was a small private Christian school and it had cliques and whatnot but not to the extent of larger public schools. Basically there were the Christiany type kids who were the goody goodies, then there was my group who smoked pot, drank, were occasional troublemakers.
The bully of that school was a kid named Bryce. He was a tall dumb caveman who failed almost every class, would blatantly cheat off your work if you sat by him, and was a total prick to virtually everyone. He called the only black kid (who was 14 years old when we were seniors) a nigger whenever he saw him, terrorize teachers, start fights with the weaker kids etc. But the thing was, everyone tolerated him. The teachers and principal tolerated him and let him slide on grades because his dad owned the largest private construction firm in town and was one of the major donors to the school. The kids tolerated him because he was tall and burly and fighting or arguing back with him would mark you for life as someone to humiliate or beat up. So he started sitting at our table and hanging out with us Junior year, he basically forced his way into our group and no one had the balls to get rid of him (me included). After awhile I really started to hate him and tried to get the other guys to go along with getting rid of him, but they acted like they liked him now and so that douche stayed in our group til graduation day. He turned our group from the mysterious stoner badboys to the kids who hang out with Bryce. Strangely enough though I ran into Bryce about a year ago and he was actually pretty cool so maybe he mellowed since high school.

I've run into quite a few of the jr. high school bullies years later as I still live in the town I grew up in. Most have done time, been divorced, been through rehab, are getting fucked for child support or are just as fucked up as they were in jr. high.
I grew up, that's the important part, I realized one day they didn't matter and went on to be fairly successful in a field no one ever thought I would get into... C'est la vie.

I have a feeling that's why a lot of teachers let bullying slide, because they know most of them have shitty home lives and that the vindictive fun they have in school is about as good as it's ever gonna get for them.

I remember seeing kids who bullied me in grade school years later, when I was in my 30's, and a part of me still felt afraid in their presence. Never underestimate the power of conditioned response.

i was bullied by this one fuckin douche in like 1st grade. he was a big mofo, still is. the cool thing is now im not afraid of him, i just pity him because of all his totems of masculinity that are undoubtedly covering up feelings of inadequacy stemming from his tiny member.
i had it pretty easy, only got beat up a couple times in elementary. no one really fucked with me after that

I've pretty much always been the fat kid. Been scrappin since I was 8 years old.
One or two kids I actually turned out to be good friends with. I developed a reputation. I didn't always win fights but I never backed down. I went from being the fat kid that got bullied to being pretty well liked by the "popular" people. Also I would stick up for people that got bullied. I was at a freshman football game, freshmen year. I was hanging out with my friend Justin, who I am still friends with today. Just me n him. Anyhow we went walkin around and out of the bleachers came a group of bout 10-12 guys, all of whom I knew. Couple of them were friends of mine. All kids our age. The "leader" was this fucking faggot named Mike that just came to our school like last year and thought he was king shit because he got accepted into all the cliques real fast. Like I said some of these dudes were my friends, some of em I didnt like at all.. So anyhow he comes up to my buddy and starts talkin about him hitting on his girlfriend and talking all this tough guy shit, trying to embarrass my friend in front of all these people. He started to get loud and angry..basically doing the tough guy dance acting like he was gonna do something. All the other dudes were laughin and carryin on. I was standing there getting pissed off the whole time and finally I told that mother fucker "Look, I don't know what the fuck is goin on here but if you want him you gotta come through me first" Old dude stopped right in his tracks. Kinda opened his mouth a little bit and didn't know what to say. I looked at a few of my buddies in his posse and they were all smilin because they knew I wasnt fucking kidding. Even if I got licked I was gonna knock at least a few of those fuckers out. Anyhow finally the only thing this kid could muster up to say was either "Oh well thats ok", or "thats fine then". I can't remember which but it was a typical bitch reply. Shit was done with then, they went on the way. After the game the kid comes up to my friend and apologizes. I ain't no tough guy but I've had to fight my whole life. And I know how it feels to get bullied, so in high school I stuck up for a lot of kids. I was lucky enough to have some friends who did the same for me.

growing up in hawaii as a white person i got bullied QUITE a bit from about 3rd grade to freshman year (when the bullies realized i had bomb drug connections and wanted to be my friend). growing up white in hawaii you ARE the minority and its not just bullying a lot of the time its straight up assault and theft i have been "falsed" countless of times by mokes and been called a Haole more times then i can count. the worst part is you cant win if you fight back his friends are gonna jump in and mob you and if he has no friends around and you do win your gonna get mobbed by him and his uncle/cousin/sistah/aunty at some point in the future. once a moke calls you out it begins a game of what a i call "Mokemon" its like "hey dont fight me im gonna call out kawika and hes gonna kick your ass!" then the aggressor is all like "fuck kawika dat pussy i going call up so and so" and so on and so forth from there. Suliman knows what im talkin bout.

3. moke
Hawaiian pidgin describing and/or classifying a male based on their displayed personality traits. "Moke" can be used to describe a male (usually of Hawiian descent, and/or from/living in Hawaii) who exhibits traits of outgoing, personality type "B", and/or "bully" style behavior. Males that cause others to cross the street to avoid them may sometimes be called "mokes". Percieved "bullies" may sometimes be called "mokes". Agressive, while not always violent behavior, may be exhibited. At the same time, verbal opinions, points of view, comments, and/or exclamations will be expressed using the commonly accepted, Hawaiian pidgin dialect. While the term "moke" invokes images of negative connotations, this may not always be the case. Bouncers, security, older brothers/cousins that don't like you trying to date their little sisters/cousins may also be wrongly classified as "mokes", due to the fact that they usually scare the user. Likes to scrap Likes to drink Drives a truck Works construction Longboards, bodyboards, or bodysurfs Loves Hawaiian music Loves to eat Hates haoles Goes offroading Goes hunting (for wild pigs) Owns a pitbull (or some other bad-ass dog) Works Security/Bounces Has a "Proud to Be Hawaiian" sticker on his truck Cruizes at da beach on his day off Lives in "da country" outside of the citySurfers Offroaders Security Bouncers Her uncle that hates you The neighborhood kid who wanna be da kine badd ass Bullies Pitbull Owners (this includes other "bad ass" breeds as well) Guys that typically cause fear without ever speaking to them The guys that laughed and/or picked on you in school for being a kook ...are usually labled "mokes". Wut, you going Waianae side? Watch out get plenny mokes out dea! No act dumb!! All da mokes wen chase me outta da watah!! 5. moke A person (usually with an ethnic background consisting of Hawaiian, Filipino, and/or Japanese. And in some very rare cases Caucasian) who is a local of one of the Hawaiian islands. Is extremely profound and in most cases, fluent in the use of "pidgin" laguage. These people usually have an IQ of 50 but make up for it with thier ability to talk a lot of trash. They engage in a lot of trash talk, and usually have nothing to back it up. They enjoy getting into fights at school and hoping that it will gain them many popularity points. Their "fights" are mostly pushing around and yelling the phrase "wat 'chu faka" out loud many times and are broken up extemely quickly. Many mokes may look tough but are actually very sensitive. If you joke about them, they threaten you, if you look at them they get pissed very quickly, and if your a white person, they will call you a "haole" and tell you to get out of Hawaii. Mokes believe that the white man took over and degraded Hawaii when really, the white man helped modernize Hawaii. They also have low-income familys. Which probably explains why they can't speak proper English. Which makes it very hard to understand them Moke: What 'chu faka? Like scrap? person: Do I know you? Moke: Faka, you teasing me? person: Who the hell are you? Moke: psh, faka you not worth it brah. *walks away* person: Jeeze, he's such a moke I swear. *shakes head*
