Muddy Memory of Woodstock 69

Above them the stars and heavens resonated

Thier bodies below entwined in the mud

Upon the ground they penetrated the deep mysteries of love

To new found knowledge carnal and etherial they clung

Nothing but the thin sheet of sweat between them

Amid the swirl of hashish earth and grunge

Their hopes and fears floated with the smoke in the air

Only to crash like moon beams upon the rocks of despair

Knowing the ectasy of the moment would dim

With sweet memory of heights experienced there in

When three days of peace and music did soon end

And back into angst ridden existence would send them

Two strangers who met and bonded on the road

Who comforted each other and through the rain rode

Parting like sojourners with tears in their good byes

Little did they know their future had been sealed with their cries...

Were you in attendance? I feel like I should have been there. My husband would say "That's right up your alley!" like it's a bad thing.

Yes I was there when a young seventeen year old jumped on the back of my motorcycle and rode into the festival with me. We were married ten months later and are still together...

That's like some fairy-tale stuff! I'd love to hear about it sometime! Or is it like "I remember it was raining.......I almost remember something else, too!"

I remember someone asking me to go, but at that time I was working with two theatre groups and was more concerned about my obligations with them.

It was definately an interesting time to be alive.

so you must be about my age.

Do you consider that to be a "what the fuck was I thinking?" moment?

No not at all.

I had worked in theatre for several years by that time, and people relied on me for some things. Also it seemed more important to work on my own possible talents than to go watch the skills of others. (remember...technica lly it was just another concert, until it actually became a "happening"

... Now THAT comment is hilarious!! That's like saying Larry-The-Cable-Clown is funnier than Jackie Gleason or Rodney Dangerfield...or stating that Dane Cook has a better sense-of-humor than Sam Kinison...or that Caddyshack II was better written than the original Caddyshack.
There's no substitute for any originals...& Woodstock 1969 was THE outdoor rock festival of the century...as was the 1967 Monterrey Pop Festival. Woodstock 1999 was a failure of immense proportions.

[QUOTE=Mercury;520490 76]Nah. THIS is where it was at!

WAS??

'They' still do it every year up here (Saint-Éphrem-de-Beauce).....and don't worry about anything, 'They' always have a huge 'TYLENOL' tent ...'They' have their own 'Security'....and smokables and tokables are on site!... there's no shortage of peeps who are permitted to wander from tent-to-tent with florally decorated, black suitcases with moderate amounts of...??...this'n that...for sale.

Woodstock en Beauce

Be ready to dish out at least 80 CAN per person to enter...and more to park and set up tent or trailer~

Almost sounds like I know my way 'round, eh?? I'm trying to find pics of the Tylenol tent..it's huge...and you can only imagine what goes on inside the tent!!

I highly reccomend this Event!
