So two weeks ago today I moved to Madrid. I'm studying abroad my junior year, and I decided to do a program that is primarily in Madrid with side trips to Rome, Istanbul, and the Greek Islands.


AMAZING right?!

But I have a conundrum, 'Hookans. My spanish is pretty poor (tried learning this summer via Rosetta Stone, decided to put that off more than I should have) and I am without knowledge of where to buy a little glass piece, etc. to start my new collection of stonerware here in Madrid, because I'm not dumb enough to try to carry any from the US.

So my questions are these...

Have you ever lived in an area where you didn't know the language? I'm loving it thusfar, it's a complete change in dynamic from the United States. Life is very different in Madrid, and it's definitely pushing me outside my comfort zone.

and..

Do you know of any good head shops in Madrid? Google Maps isn't doing very well when I type in "head shops madrid", unbelievable I know. I saw one near Gran Via the other day but I was with a university class

Two majors, Law and another one thats basically a big stirring pot of economics and government. This semester won't really satisfy any requirements for my majors but I've been doing good so far so I decided to take this trip for me (lol).

well from what i heard most people from other countries are bi if not tri lingual and your going to school so you got plenty peeps your age group right? so just find the chill looking stoners and ask if they speak english then ask where da pipe shops at. also did you google search for "glass art" or "glassblowers"

i studied in norway during my 4th year of my undergrad degree. i lived there for a year and spent most of my time learning norwegian (in which i am now fluent). i already spoke french and english so i have a decent aptitude for learning languages. i recently moved to belgrade serbia to start a masters degree and i am again going through the process of learning a new language. my advice for you is to not smoke any weed unless you have a good local friend who can get it for you and provide a safe place to smoke it. you don't want any trouble with the law in a country where you can't explain yourself.

Yes, marijuana is decriminalized in Spain and it is actually legal to grow one plant and smoke marijuana in your house. Not sure why that isn't more of a well known fact, but after researching it a few days ago I'm pretty psyched for the rest of the semester. Thanks for all the feedback so far
