cards
you are essentially paying for someone else's thoughts and feelings to convey "your own feelings" to someone you have an intimate connection with as a token of your appreciation. give me a break. how lazy can you be. seriously, does that action really warrant a deserving, caring emotional response from the sigother you got it for?
anyways, do you read them if given to you? do you buy them for significant others?

Of course I read them. My family only ever buys funny ones. Not the serious type.
I don't give them to people though. I've found that to accompany a small gift instead of a storebought card- a tag made of a good card stock, weighty.. with some kind of contrast piece - way more meaningful. People notice.

heh, cards was all I gave to my family last christmas because I had no money. I basically did these one page cards, portraits I guess, of their faces photoshopped into various images reflecting something indicative of their personality.

For the basics, yes
Birthdays, Christmas, all that stuff I could really care less about (my own b-day included of course). It’s tradition I half-assedly participate in to keep up a relationship with my family. Silly family traditions sometimes require buying silly cards and the whatnot. When I was younger I used to make my own cards, which always seems a little more appropriate for personal celebrations. I think I may look into doing more of this in the future with a bit more of a professional look. The personal touch makes it worth something more IMO. |

If someone else can express that in words for you, I see no harm in it. After all, you're still picking their words.

I like greeting cards, but I always write what I want in there, as if the printed sentiments that came with it weren't there at all. Then again, I feel confident in my writing skill to convey what I mean. A lot of people aren't as sure of themselves in that area, so it's good to have someone else put it down for them.
I wish they had more blank cards, tho. I don't see too many at the drug store anymore. ![]() The Rev |

Always on the hunt for a great card. Some I have saved. Like the 'Rock and Roll Dog'. I bought one for my wife, and then a few days later I cut it up.
Because I framed the card. It was a nice picture of 'us'.
