I wonder if it's hard to shift ones mind to topless is 'ok' after growing up as a woman and be subject to the whole, 'no topless ladies' norm and what not, despite the fact that she may have never felt like one?

I doubt it. I would imagine just the opposite - that it's hard to live life female bodied while feeling like you are male and know you're still incapable of being able to go shirtless.
