That's not true actually. My sister once dumped a box of the stuff on me leftover from a party. Not having a microwave I just heated some oil and threw the contents on top and it worked fine.
Not sure what sort of adverse effects any of the chemicals inside the bag would have had with hot oil.. but the popcorn tasted fine and even took on a good amount of the butter flavour.

once when I was younger I heard you could put a pipe in the microwave to get all the resin loosened up. Well I put it in for too long and when I opened it back up smoke was just billowing out everywhere. Stunk up the whole house, luckily my dad was gone for the day and I was able to clear the place out before he got home. But the actual microwave still stunk so I grabbed one of those glade jelly things and rubbed it all over in there and eventally you couldnt tell unless you stuck your nose in there and took a big wiff.

I've microwaved fire, like a match stuck into a cork, made a big green pulsating ball of something or other, people online claimed it was plasma.
I've heard though, as stupid as it sounds, that the coolest thing to microwave is..... A microwave element from another oven
