Drug dealer fantasy

Blow is playing on FX right now... it's got me thinkin'...

I definitely went through a phase when I thought I wanted to be a drug dealer. I didn't want to be Pablo Escobar or Rick Ross, I just wanted to make enough to buy an Escalade, 20" rims and some Fubu gear, that was the baller style at the time.

Too bad I never sold a bag of anything in my life...

I knew some small time slangers though. They pushed pounds of weed, ounces of coke and meth and whatever else they could get their hands on. The majority of them sold out of their bedrooms at their mom's house though and I wasn't really impressed with them. The only stock they had was getting invited to all the good parties and having lots of numbers in their cell phones. And I guess they did have some spending money. They owned cars at least.

All in all I didn't see much difference in affluence between my job tworking 30 hours per week at Taco Bell and those guys working the underground selling dope.

So the fantasy faded...

But now I think if I did decide to follow that dream I would definitely have done it better than those non-visionaries. I would be less 50 Cent style afterall and more Scarface style instead, ya feel me?

Have any of you ever known someone who actually made big bank doing that shit and lived the part?

drug dealing is not worth it at all imo.

If you are small time the risk may not be huge but the job itself sucks.
If you are bigtime, even if you barely do anything work wise the risk is WAY too huge.

Id maybe be a legal drug dealer, but even then.. fucking annoying man. People are total dicks when they want to get high and dont care about shit else

Back in the 1970s, I used to mule weed from Tucson to Chicago. All I had to do was get the weed there (50-60 lbs) & then it would be handed-over to the dude who was dealing it in Chi-town.
The dude in Tucson was about 45 yrs old & I was 19. His partner in Chicago was in his late 20s & was the guy doing the selling. I never had to do any 'dealing'...just transporting it 2,000 miles. The $$$ was good for the little bit of handling I had to do & back then, there were no cop road-blocks, no drug-dogs, none of that. The trip up to Chicago was nerve-racking, but then I'd get paid & have a free plane ticket back to Tucson.

Dealing drugs doesn't work to make big money because of three simple reasons...

1. People work on fronts and are always doing their profit, killing their margins...

2. People don't understand the critical rule, don't smoke your own supply...

3. When you deal drugs you are entering into a market where customers are pushy if they know you are the guy and will bug you all hrs for tiny amounts, killing any chance of a private life...

Those rules are for the I wanna be a big boy drug dealers...suppliers and real distributors are run closer to actual businesses....the reality is that it is still a job and not the romantic lifestyle you see in the movies...

drug dealing nowadays is nothing like it was back in the 60s/70s

its pretty ruthless nowadays when you get into big money

just look at the messicans down south that shit is crazy insane

in america its hard to make big money dealing cuz youve got competition- the biggest most badass drug dealer on earth- corporate america and big pharm

yeah, same here in the UK, tons of teen wannabe hardcases thinking they're gonna hit the big time doing a coke round or something.

They don't realise they would probably earn similar money, more actual respect and live a longer and more fulfilling life getting a job at McDonalds or something.

I suppose there are exceptions to that rule, one is a guy called Curtis Warren who supposedly came up from nothing and became the biggest drug kingpin motherfucker the UK has ever seen, and that's what all these kids think they're going to do, but it takes dedication, intelligence and utter ruthlessness to get that far from a street corner.
Otherwise all of the big players are businessmen, already rich before they got into the game.

Most dealers I've known have been students trying to supplement their income, or regular guys who do it as their job because they're the sort that hate having bosses and schedules.

I've only known one guy personally who made a lot of money off it, and he retired off it, making hundreds of thousands in the span of like 4 years or something. But even after that he still seemed kinda miserable.

had a buddy who had a fed or some high figure authority force him and a few partners into something crazy like a 100k bribe, turned out that authority figure was being watched. shit went down.

srs

i was never to close to him after growing up, but I was good friends with his twin brother, of whom delt large scale as well, but never quite made it as big as his twin brother. Dude was literally living in a rather large house in an upscale neighborhood, driving multiple high end cars, had multiple grow houses and what not.. everything was drug money. The twin, I was good friends with had lived off drug money completely his whole life, teen years till our age now, always had nice cars, escalades on big rims and what not, and a fancy apartment. All bought with drug money. When I say drug money I mean weed money.

edit. ok I remember what happened now.. The cop/fed/agent whoever, forced them into a bribe only to get them up and still bust them. However like I said, he was being watched, got busted himself, which forced the judge to throw out the case on the dudes who got set up lol.

hard drugs bring out a lot of scumbags. you're better just growing some herb. I have some friends who tour and slang at festies but I tend to believe it will catch up with them before too long.
