I was thinking about this today.

Actually I was watching a B.o.b. video lol i know that sounds like something merc would say.

but like, i was watching it and the way that vids from black american artists are mostly popular in europe and latin america and australia... they are never very popular in places like china or japan or africa.. (unless its some huge artist and a huge song like beyonce or something)... but it got me to remember how when they had some movie called "couples retreat" they took the black people out of the promo for the european and asian versions of the show... and thinking about the black people i know- they seem just like the white people i know- they dress nice, sound intelligent... they still have that slang talking a little bit, but most people I know think it makes them interesting or cool, not like subhuman or whatever...

and then when you think that the average american, even if hes not doing that great... hes still doing a shitload better than the average angolan... or sierra lionesian.... like black people in america have the same safety net as whites, they have the same wellfare system , etc etc...

so in the final accounting, and certainly its not making their enslavement any better... but like im just wondering if african americans feel this way too... that for all the shit they had happen to them, they are glad that now they are here and living here instead of back wherever they came from... im sure its different for different people... but its an interesting topic no? any comments on it?

I, too am missing what you're saying unless it's the "no shit" statement waves mentioned. It seems like you're just saying black people that live in America are probably "better off" than those remaining in their home countries. Seems like a pretty no shit statement for the most part to me. Adding in 'the descendants of slaves" just makes you sound like a schmuck though.
