What DO you like about yourself?
Well, it seems clear from the 'what don't you like about yourself?' thread that there's a trend of social awkwardness among Yahookans, but let's share stuff about what we do like about ourselves?
I'll kick it off. I like how I can put my foot down. Straight up, when that shit is down, it's down. MWUHAHA

I don't know man I just like who I am and I wouldn't want to be anyone else. For a while I did. Then I grew up.
I used to hate myself. Now I love myself. I embrace it. Who doesn't hate themselves in high school though?

i for damn sure did.
nice to be overall happy with who i am. i try to be a good person and be someone i would want to hang out with. i've got a lot of good qualities, but it's pretty hard to talk about myself like that. this is a good counterpoint thread. |

I have a sexy deep voice and can sing in an awesome bass.
Many people have told me my laugh is infectious and I can brighten people up by giving their jokes a hearty laugh. I've been told I'm a good listener, and quite a few times I've remembered a story that was told to me years ago and it makes people think I honestly listen and care to people. When I debate irl I don't shout or get in people's faces, rather I ask them questions about their beliefs to demonstrate why they may be mistaken. I open doors for ladies, a seemingly lost art these days. I call waitresses, clerks and my elders "sir" or "ma'am" which they usually seem to appreciate. I never overstay my welcome, in fact I often try to leave early and make my friends wish I'd stayed.

i like the fact that ive been able to balance my life fairly well up to this point. i have maintained a 3.5ish gpa all throughout my undergrad going from mechanical engineering to general biology, all the while exploring other aspects of life. i.e. partying my ass off since junior year of highschool
![]() i might be the most wasted dude at the party but im probably also one of the most educated, and i think that kind of counts for something. i know alot of one dimensional people and i feel proud knowing im creative and, conversely, also quite capable of analytical thought. im polite for the most part. i do actually avoid hurting other people, and i actually have a conciouss i think those are good things

There are lots of little that I take pride in myself for.
The first that springs to mind is that I am a natural diplomat, I dunno, whenever there's a disagreement or hostility, I seem to be good at seeing a way to sort it out so that neither party loses any dignity. Good listener, observant and good at reading people, though sort of comes with the introvert territory. And yes, chivalry is not dead, just a lot rarer these days! Nice thread! Praise to Rev! |

i am considerate to strangers. this includes holding doors, patience while driving, being careful when i'm walking around that i'm not in anybodies way, etc.
this is likely because inconsiderate people drive me absolutely nuts. |

I like what Terry added and feel the same for myself in these areas:
I have a sexy deep voice and can sing in an awesome bass. My laugh is infectious and I can brighten people's day by giving their jokes a hearty laugh. I've been told I'm a good listener, and honestly listen and care about people. When I debate irl I don't shout or get in people's faces, rather I ask them questions about their beliefs to demonstrate why they may be mistaken. I'm a good cook. I like having a beard/Not shaving I like the process, the ebb and flow, wax and wain, high and low tides of becoming Me everyday.

Lol, at the fellow bass/baritones whatevers
people often tell me I have product advertiser voice when I do announcements on the intercom system. Being especially polite to the elderly is a point of pride for me. Some of the people that come into the goodwill might not have had any other human contact than their nurses at the assisted living facility and fellow patients in varying stages of dementia. So for the ones who can still leave and have their mental faculties intact, that little bit of conversation and kindness and a smile can make their whole week. And it really isn't much effort to just listen and offer a comment or two. and i just dumped a bowl of oatmeal in my lap. but yeah, politeness and the little gentleman things are big for me. as a retail worker, i'm always very considerate when I shop. I don't wreck the stores/unfold the clothes/move stuff around the store, I don't hassle other near-minimum wage workers over the little stuff, and sir and ma'am are mandatory, if they're at all competent/trying. the ones who are just miserable/waiting to quit/etc, i just stay quiet and move through the line. |
