How do you eat Chinese?

With chopsticks, a fork or other?

There is only 1 correct answer.

Other can be anything you want it to be.

I like going out for Chinese and I'm the only person in the place using chopsticks.

Are they really that hard to use to the average person?

idk man....

I've been using them since I was 8 yrs old.

Mom bought an electric wok and I guess the thought it'd be fun to have chopsticks as well?

So I started then, I don't see or know what is hard about them to use?

Maybe it's like speaking another language, it's not that people can't... it's that they are embarrassed for sounding, or in this case, not being a pro at it?

No, I just want to know how people eat it.

I've noticed that most people use western cutlery to eat Chinese food which just seems weird.

I had it a couple weeks ago and the place didn't have chopsticks on the table, I had to go and ask for them.

But they aren't the proper utensils.

Would you use a screwdriver for a nail?

That is a bad excuse. I taught my 10 year old nephew how to use chopsticks in like 5 minutes.

The million dollar question:

When you go out for Indian food....

Do you eat with your fingers instead of cutlery?

Since we're talking 'propers' here

I figured this is how you'd get out of answering this question

So ... do you think people that eat Indian food ought to use their fingers/hands since it's 'proper'?

If that is the proper way, yes. If it is only the de facto proper way because of rampant poverty in India, I guess it can go either way. I don't eat Indian food, so I never bothered to learn their customs for doing so.

To answer your probable follow up question, I eat Thai with western cutlery, it is proper.

Using chop-sticks for Chinese seems patronizing to me... it's basically fast food.

I'm glad you said this because this IS THE answer/perspective I was hoping would come up.

I actually like to use chopsticks because of how slowly and mindfully I'm able to eat/chew/digest the food
