All you beardy weirdies, I'll bet you sleep like babies at night...

...is there a trick to this?

I feel like I am missing something, see I dislike shaving, and think I suit facial fluff much better than a bare face, but it gets so bloody itchy once it gets to a certain length.

It seriously inhibits my ability to sleep, which isn't my greatest strength anyway to be fair, but the facial itch just drives me insane and is literally the only thing that forces me to shave after a while, otherwise I'd probably resemble some sort of fundamentalist Islamic ZZ top member by now.

So, how is this achieved, do I need a beard sling or something?

Yea... and once it gets past a certain length it stops itching, beyond the usual itches people get on their face.... it's not always the beard's fault, it's just natural.

I think 3 weeks is the 'no itch' mark, although I can't ever remember having one granted I haven't had a short/trimmed beard for a long damned time.

Is the itching from the hair, or because you don't wash it?

it's not so much about length as time. Takes about a month to stop itching.
same after you remove it as well.

Cheers Sage!

Am fairly sure my hygiene standards are adequate, so I'll go with wire like hairs stabbing me in the face, especially bad on the top lip, though I do trim the muzzy when it starts doing this... but lying in bed the side of my face that's on the pillow just gets too irritating after a while, really pisses me off.

Maybe I'll start using conditioner, for a silky soft beard with a radiant glow...

Yea, I don't recall that feeling, but I guess it goes away or my brain is fucked for the last 10 years

I think it goes away after about a 3-4 weeks depending on how fast it grows and how hard your hair is... some people just have naturally softer hair.

Funny enough.. you might try the conditioner until it gets longer....

A little suffering to not have to shave ever again if you don't want to...

Do the math

I've never had itching from my beard, for some reason. I have had itching from trimming body hair, and I always attributed it to the sharp edges of the cut hairs poking back at my skin.

I can't grow a beard so I wouldn't know.

The hair softens after a certain length or time, as was said above.

I don't shave and havn't in years really. I just trim my beard. I keep it between #2 on my trimmer and 2-3 weeks after that.

Sometimes I just do my neck or the top of my cheeks.

I really like having a beard, and I like inspecting/appreciating/hating on other peoples facial hair.

One time my room mate had a party, and there was this one guy I just didnt like right off the bat. I didnt know why at first, but talking to my room mate later I realized it was probably his handle-bar mustache. I figured, if he made the decision to grow a mustache that looks that terrible on him, I didn't trust his judgement/want him in my house.

I've been there and sympathize. I don't often trim while intoxicated anymore.

Roommate of mine, in college, shaved his head when drunk once. Kept it that way for 4 months after. It was a good look for him, actually. He just had that perfect baldness cranium.

My beard only itches after a good close trim. Other than that I find it to be quite comfortable, then again I can't remember what it feels like not to have a beard. In-grown hairs in the midst of a beard are a bitch though.

I think my beard looks shitty but I get a lot of positive reinforcement on it.
