Who is your favourite main character in The Watchmen?

I'm a tremendous fan of the story, in both its graphic novel and movie adaptations. This is due to the characters themselves being highly interesting and relateable to me, and basically just how they each work into the themes of the story, their relationship and reaction to understanding the true nature of humanity.

So when a friend asked me the other day who my favourite character was, I wasn't sure how to answer.

After going over it again and again, I still can't decide.

I'm torn between Rorschach and The Comedian.

ARGH It's impossible!

I WANT to pick Rorschach because I admire him the most, but I keep feeling like I resonate most strongly with The Comedian. It really IS hilarious, isn't it? Sometimes.. fuck it's just ridiculous and I don't give a fuck and I get in these chaotic destructive moods where I just want to create some chaos and watch the world burn and not have any real relationships because I find myself and all other people just god damn ridiculous. Sometimes I get so fucking angry at these gross injustices I see around me and I feel like Rorschach and want to get all retribution on their asses.

I mean I'm probably closest to Nite Owl, morally devoted to a cause, but disillusioned, yet not disillusioned to the point of gruesome behavior. Lonely, but romantic at the core, a kind and loving person, but aggressive and cold when pushed.

God damn it now Nite Owl is on the list. IT'S JUST SUCH A GOOD STORY!

But... can YOU decide?

Oh Yahooka... I don't want to cheat on you.. but I've been eyeballing this other forum... nah.. no cheatin... but I think our relationship stands a good chance of turning polygamous in the near future.

It's a graphic novel that's since been adapted into a movie directed by the master of cinematic spectacle Zack Snyder. Both are awesome in my opinion, super awesome actually.

But hey it's all good. I found a cute girl to share in the revelry of the awesome this evening.

My favorite has always been Dr. Manhattan. I guess it's because he reflects my own deep inner longing for infinite power and a glowing blue manhandle. Besides, no one makes a better entrance....

My second favorite is The Comedian. He's a great dark side character.

Well, FFA is Mellow Stoners now... and it's General Discussion too... since they were both merged into FFA.

Basically saying... we think we can all just talk openly about things..... and still have some lulz.

If you want more heady/ specifically focused talks, that is why we left some other Colloquial forums but opened them up to a more FFA like moderation format.

This COULD go in Multimedia and Tech..... but it's okay here as well.
I see no problem with it unless you don't mind it being put into a 'category' forum.

Right on, I don't usually use the forum index either...

And only use the main page, that you are talking about to sign in and see who has been here today and mod-ing stuff like that.

Otherwise I just use 'New Posts' button or 'Todays posts' under the 'Quick Links' drop down menu.

I think opening up the FFA so to speak will make it easier and more welcome for folks to post in them. We can have a more engaged conversation in specific matters of interest from the experts and the novices, pooling the knowledge a little bit, reading and seeing new ideas... being good, well rounded people.
