tea/tisane drinkers

I know there have got to be at least a few others on hea...

Since I cut out soda from my routine, teas and tisanes have taken over my flavored water lineup. For those not used to the terminology, a tisane is simply non-tea (camellia sinensis) plant steeped in water for pleasure or medicinal benefits.

Right now i'm drinking a mix of holy basil and scullcap, with a bit of stevia. holy basil gets me a good dose of antioxidants and I love anything with eugenol(cloves, clove oil) in it, and holy basil has a shit ton of eugenol. it's delicious. The scullcap has a bit of an astringent taste, I did not used to like it, but now pimp the stuff wherever I can. It's not terribly sedative, but I always sleep more deeply, and usually throughout the night when I have a cup before bed.

I have a blend of licorice root, fennel seed, ornage peel, cinnamon chunks, cloves and sifted chamomile tops. it's great for settling my stomach if I have some indigestion or issues with my stomach, and it tastes great to boot!

I've talked a lot about the mix I use when I start to feel like I'm coming down with a bug (peppermint, oregon grape root, goldenseal root, red clover blossoms, rose hips, orange peel, calendula flowers, and echinancea tops) and it seems to work pretty well so long as I drink it several times a day for the very first few days of getting sick. And it also tastes wonderful.

I'm all about sassafras root bark, a lot of old timers near me swear by the stuff to heal any kind of ailment, but that just sounds like old timer 'tussin talk, folklore if you will. I do know from a couple of sources that it's supposed to break fevers by inducing a deep sweat, and it does feel like it lowers blood pressure to a meaningful degree. I could record before and after blood pressure cuff readings if i were really that ...um....concerned

I feel like this post got too long all of a sudden,

tell me about your teas.

Also, these are great:

for any kind of loose leaf tisane (coffee included) the laser cut holes let through only the smallest off powders that tend to leak through a standard coffee filter anyhow....the lid doubles as a saucer to lay the infuser on when you're done with it, and it's silicone, no cheap rubber. it really is a well engineered product.

thems sounds like some good teas edizle. where do you buy at?

a cup of tea sounds really good right now. i've drank tea plenty of times in the past but really i just can't get myself in the routine of drinking it like i know i should. above all i am defnitely a classic Earl Grey tea drinker with chamomile coming in second.

Well, the one i go to is great for herbal tisanes, and maybe they have a great tea selection-i don't really know, but they're very knowledgeable and have a description of where the teas they sell generally fall in the world of tea.

My sister was trying to get me to go to one that had a really good classic tea lineup, but their herbals section was seriously lacking.

google can find you both of these companies very quickly, but i'll pm to ya merc, and anyone else who wants the addys can just drop me a line or whatever-i put enough spam in my first post

like psylocybe mushroom, dh-or the medicinal mushrooms? I've been looking into mushrooms, trying to find some immune modulating and anti inflammatory fungi

i was looking at an ingredients list for the herbal teas, didn't want to spam a certain company's label for that concoction. i buy the medicinals aside from echinacea from an entheogenic type supplier. it's similar to the licorice and holy basil.

I've recently started experimenting with pedicularis groenlandica. smoked (probably 300mg) produced very mild relaxation, could easily be placebo. I put it into my cup of holy basil & scullcap last night, and thought it had potential. trying it tonight as a major component.

The liquid is much darker tonight. interesting, as the pedicularis buds are very much purple. Oxidized slightly from time, or bad storage, but still noticeably purple. kind of looks like cannabis. can't find the camera, might take a phone pic.
