TSA Checkpoints Now On TN Highways | Tennessee News Press | Tennessee News Directory | TN Headlines

The random inspections really aren’t any more thorough normal, according to Tennessee Highway Patrol Colonel Tracy Trott who says paying attention to details can make a difference.

“People generally associate the TSA with airport security…but now we have moved on to other forms of transportation, such as highways, buses and railways,” said Kevin McCarthy, TSA federal security director for West Tennessee.

They don't bother using terrorism as the excuse much more. Now it's in the name of catching all bad guys. Drug offenses are the easiest to convict for obvious reasons. How many murderers and thieves will be caught this way?

I just moved to TN. This state blows ass anyways.

what scares me is the article says now they have moved on to other forms of transportation such as buses, railways, and highways.. So deff is more to come.

I don't need some fucker touching my crotch just to get on a bus or train, or someone to delay me of my time to search my vehicle for no reason other than making sure, me, a US citizen is not a terrorist.

A cop cant search your vehicle without probable cause. Yeah they get around it, but that is still a law at least.

I can understand how DUI checkpoints can be legal, but a full on car search? wtf no way.

The highway checks are at 5 weigh stations. Last time I drove past one (yesterday) they were checking Commercial 18 Wheelers, not vehicles that most people operate with a standard DL.

tennessee has the great and the godawful, i'm proud to have it as a home state. whatever you have to say about it, it's a great microcosm of america. much more diverse than those like waves would give it credit for.

the outer cities are where it gets interesting, and though I don't have much experience in memphrica(I give it that name because the few times i've driven through, i could count on one hand the other white people i saw-very strange for someone who hadn't been around much black presence in a city that size), it isn't even really part of the contiguous state-moreso part of arkansas than anything. small town life can vary from cultured and educated and very liberal, to downright 'dueling banjos' drive-through towns. great people, so long as you're not too opinionated to hear another person's opinion you might disagree with (republican racists anti-drug, anti-intellectual, christian, etc) but honestly i can't say much for people's manners of race in small towns, if you were to be of more melanin or perhaps an exotic faith.

i mean here where i live there are tons of mixed race couples, it's getting way acceptable.

but even last summer, we got off at an exit for gas, one side said "buy american" the other side was cheaper, I go in, find out it's run by a pakistani guy, shit like that

lots of ignorant people, for sure, but really, our schools are terrible. terrible. little good comes from our public schools. little good comes from a culture that celebrates the destruction of intellect in the name of faith.
