Do you have hoarding tendencies?

Do you have difficulty throwing things away?

Something like ... A stuffed animal? A VHS tape? A love letter?

I have no problem throwing stuff like that away and a lot of times I hate myself for it because I lose so much sentimental value that way.

I like to hold onto keepsakes from my life, but generally, I feel more comfortable with less stuff.

i used to, but ive recently had to sell a load of old films, clothes etc to raise money for a project. it actually felt really good, despite not raising much money.

i do like the idea of being an old man in a house full of clutter though. maybe ill hoard more as i get older!

I have anti-hoarder tendencies

I cant hold on to anything

The only thing ive had for more than like 2 years is my computer

I would love to go back and listen to music from my youth, movies i used to like, etc, but im too fucking unorganized

So now the only thing I hoard is downloads from usenet.

I'll hoard if not kept in check. I've gotten way better, but I still have trash laying around.

I was once told by a friend that I was one of the few people he had ever met that had an apartment that did not contain one thing that wasn't used on a regular basis...as in no clutter, nothing covered in dust, or anything creating negative space...I don't really know what he meant by it but I guess it means that I don't hoard...

Secretly I hoard media...Music, Movies, etc...In the physical and the digital...

Well I used to, but since I really haven't had the time and to be honest the desire to sculpt I have collected a lot less "stuff". I used to keep every mechanical POS. Broken computer chips were my favorite. wirings gears, really anything that I deemed, "looks neat" I kept. When I moved into a studio apartment I dumped a lot of stuff. I still find myself staring at something going damn this is neat, but what am I "Really" going to do with it. I have been donating a lot of books and that has been a little hard. I keep telling myself, "someone else will enjoy this, someone else will enjoy this."

tools, bottles, jars, fittings, wood scraps, metal scraps, assorted wire, assorted tubing/pipe, assorted solvents, various tapes and adhesives, and a variety of towels/desiccants/absorbents to soak up all the solvents and oil.

Yeah, I suffer the same combination of laziness and attachment to random objects.

Not looking forward to the next time I move house, as our loft is full of junk from my childhood/school/college/20's... completely disorganised and all will be hard to throw away.

Feel kind of good today though, have just had the shredder out and binned a ton of useless documents, bank statements, random pieces of paper that have been building up through sheer laziness, it does feel good to have a bit of extra space now!

I definitely hoard craft supplies because I see potential in all kinds of random crap, but I also keep it organized and put away so it's not like my house is messy because of it.

Oh and books. If it's true that you can measure a person's intelligence by the number of books they surround themselves with, I must be one smart bitch. I need to do a cleansing though, my bookshelves (three of them!) are literally stuffed right now.

I purge my apartment every now and again.. it feels good.. most of the crap I don't use gets thrown out.. or donated.. but there is always one thing that you didn't use for ages and the moment you throw it away.. you need it! heh

Check out this site.. 100 Thing Challenge

What are your top ten items you would rather not live without... (excluding those that are absolutely vital to survival.. or stuff like clothes, shoes, cups, forks etc).

For me..

1. Laptop with net
2. Speakers
3. Fridge
4. Headphones
5. Chair
6. Guitar
7. Phone
8. Grill cooker
9. Fan
10. Hot shower

I wonder how many items I actually own.. could make for an interesting task on a rainy day.. or not.

I've only kept my favourite toys and some old school stuff because it's fun to look back at the stuff you made when you were a little kid.

I also protect my laptop like a second child.

I used to have the opposite of this problem though, where I'd destroy my guitars. They became lovers to me, each of them, and I got to know them very well and spent many hours with each of them. A total of.. either 4 or 5 guitars have no suffered the wrath of the turmoil of my emotions. When you channel that much emotion through something.. and then the emotions become too aggressive, I dunno, shit happens. The sound of the strings aren't enough. You want to shake it to the core and watch everything explode.

I'd never hurt my bass though. To break that would be to kill my soul.

Here's my 'Top 10' objects, with attached value for fun :

-My Dingwall Zebra 5 ($5000)
-My Laptop ($700 on time of release... probably like $550 now)
-My mountain bike ($3000)
-My skis ($800)
-My green backpack (no idea)
-My Alesis DM7 drum kit ($800)
-My Godin Freeway Classic ($450)
-My 32" LG 720p lcd ($400.. maybe $300 these days)
-My E-mu preamp ($125)
-My Casio keyboard (no idea)
