Which chainsaw should I buy?

Both saws can be purchased locally for around $300

Stihl: MS 250 Chain Saw - Occasional Use Gas Powered Chainsaw | STIHL USA

Husqvarna: HUSQVARNA 445 - Chainsaws

I need a saw to cut about 5 truckloads of firewood per winter and to clean up storm damage throughout the year.

Dunno much about chainsaws, but the Stihl has better specs. I also like the looks of it better. More traditional.

I like an 18 inch bar.

Hitachi CS40EA18-BONUS - (18") 40cc Rear Handle Gas Chainsaw w/Bonus Chain & Bar

I also like the Stihl you linked to.

not sure about husq., reviews I read were 50/50 with cleaning and oiler listed as problems. motors are good tho.

I like an 18" blade as well. Both are good saws though. Much like a lawn mower, you get what you pay for with a chainsaw.

I still got to cut up a large limb that fell off one go our old oaks.

I'd get the Husqvarna. I've used the 445 personally and it's a solid piece of kit. I've also been through three different Stihl engines this year that all suffered from the same problems (basically fails to dissipate heat properly using regular two stroke, and warps the head). I've had pretty good experiences with Stihl before, but third time unlucky in this case.

I know 2 people that just bought the Stihl....it's the chainsaw that requires very little effort to crank it...they got an extra blade, case and hat for under 300 CAN at the Stihl Dealership.

When i work for the conservation department they always hand me a stihl. Then i go run around in the woods sending many trees to meet their makers. Also, when I got chainsaw certified we used stihls. That's really all I have to go on, so I say go for the stihl.

I know it's probably pronounced "Still" but it's a lot more fun to pronounce it "Sti-heil"
