Lets talk about naps
Naps are my favorite thing to do. I love a nap. I just wish i didnt smoke as much pot so i could enjoy dreaming, because thats like enjoying two things at once, sleeping AND trippy-mind-movies.
Do you feel invigorated or even more tired after taking a nap? I saw this question asked at reddit and i wanted to bring it over and discuss it with my homieboyz. So, homieboyz, i pose the question to you: Naps: yay or nay? Why not? Why so? |

FTR naps leave me extremely invigorated. i can take a nap at 6 o clock and get up at 7 and then i'll be wide awake until 2 am. i dont get why people would take naps if they only make you more tired. i imagine if you are tired already you dont care that its going to make you more tired, like someone dieing of dehydration coming upon a bottle of salt water. but still, i would have a cup of coffee or something before napping if they didnt invigorate me.

i've never been a napper. i have difficulty sleeping for less than 4 hours. once i'm out, i'm out. sometimes i try to take naps in between jobs, but it's a utility nap that i desperately wish could be an actual sleep. all in all, i stay up for as long as i can and then i sleep for as long as i can.

I enjoy a nap, a shower afterwards is essential though.

Back when I was working the over nights, my routine was as soon as I got home from work I would hit the sack, usually six thirty in the a.m. Wake up at noon when the wife got home for lunch and go about my business until around nine p.m. when I would lie down for a forty five minute to an hour nap. Up and out the door by ten fifteen and at work and on the clock by ten thirty p.m. and on the road refreshed and ready for my average 250 mile twenty stop road trip.
I was fit, trim and healthy, feelin' good and walkin' tall. ![]() I need a job.

^250 miles a day!?? i had a job once where i drove about 120 miles once per week and i'd begin to stress pretty hard after about the forth hour behind the wheel. i'd pretty much keel over out of my car at the end of those days.

I want to love naps (who doesn't love sleeping?), but I have the same problems others have; a nap ends up being 3 or 4 hours instead of 20 or 30 minutes.
It's probably just a routine sort of thing that could change over time. I remember reading about someone who wanted to nap throughout the day instead of one long sleep. Fucked up his schedule when he was out with friends but other than that I think he liked it. Had to put a bed in a closet so he could sleep during the day. |

the most refreshing naps i take are when i feel like i never actually fell into real sleep
mostly its like a lucid dream where im thinking about something and then i "wake up" and realize its been 20 mins or w/e, but it feels like a long time passed

^those lucid naps can be frightening. i think i have had more sleep paralysis experiences during daytime naps than i have during nighttime sleep. something about the sunshine, probably, that keeps my mind alert enough to see the shadow ghosts.

I said average, some nights it was 120 miles with 30 stops, those went quickly and were usually quite fun. Other nights it was 380 miles with only nine stops... Those nights sucked.

I enjoy naps afterwork and stuff. But if I go to sleep in the middle of the day because of burnout then I end up sleeping for like 4 hours and waking up just as burnt out and tired as before.

It's best to keep naps under 30 minutes to prevent rem initiation otherwise you may feel more tired afterwards. I wish I had time to nap. I'll have to this next semester tho since I won't be able to get enough sleep just after school.

talking about dreaming and naps- You are much more likely to become lucid during a nap. Love it.
I love naps just cause ive always loved sleeping. I have 0 problem sleeping during the day/light, as im quite used to it normally lol. but yes, i have to avoid naps like many others here apparently, b/c i end up sleeping for like 6 hours lol

I can't remember the last time I took a nap, or had time for one.
On the other hand, my wife's brothers seem to be able to fall asleep pretty easily, even at kids b-day parties and shit. That's amazing - I wish I could do that. Sleeping is good for your health. I have to smoke a bowl and take 5 pills of Diphenhydramine to get to sleep every night. Before that, it was 3 or 4 and sometimes 5mgs of Xanax, which thank god I got myself off of last Spring.
