Before having a baby..
..people should have to take care of a plant.. grow some veg.. and then take care of a pet. If they can't do that then they don't have anywhere near the responsibility required to take care of a baby.
What do you think!? M |

I think it's good advice for people considering parenthood. However, I wouldn't want laws written along these lines. But then, that's a whole other "government's role in peoples' lives" kind of discussion. Unfortunately, most people have kids by accident, so anyone responsible enough to follow this advice probably doesn't need it.

I think that's a great idea. Of course raising a child has to be one of the most difficult challenges in life, so nothing really can prepare you.

I see a lot more parents hitting their kids. Not slaps on the bottom-slaps across the mouth, shoves, punches on the arms-I see people yelling at their babies to stop crying, yelling it at the infant.
I've never had a baby, but I've raised numerous small animals from birth, and I would never hit my kid in a way that wasn't very formal and ceremonial-(i.e, a talking to explaining why they were getting spanked, and then a spanking-like my folks did for me-the talk was always worse) if a kid's too young to talk to like that, then calm it, reassure it, comfort it, you'd never threaten an infant to quiet, i just don't get that I think it would be good for any prospective parent to have raised an animal in their lifetime. Not strictly necessary, but i think it would help. |

I think everyone who wants to be a parent HAS to go through at least 6 sessions of counseling FIRST. Get a grip on your own shit before you dump that load on another human being. Ya know?

I believe it in man....
Don't mean to sound like I'm lining my pockets... (With the level I'm going in for that ain't happening no matter HOW many people come in) I DO mean to advocate healthy living though. People pay lots of attention on the body... Not so much on a 'fit' mind. Body needs help.... see a doctor... Head needs help.... people think they can do it themselves. I get it.... but I don't get it. I'm doing more 'street level' counseling, which is being a 'helping friend' to folks in need such as people living on the street or hospice work.
