yeah word to that. Americans in general have this weird obsession with financial independence. Weve been brainwashed to believe the "american dream" is the only thing worth persuing and fuck anyone and everyone else.
What makes me more angry is the waste that goes on in western culture. I sometimes work corporate gigs where the events are catered and they have to make about double the food required to feed everyone. By law they are required to throw away an extra food. The people in these corporations are well fed people and they barely eat the food. Ive never seen more than a quarter of the food made eaten. All these people workimg behind the scenes making no money are forced to throw away food that could feed their families for weeks. I truly blieve this planet has more than enough space for everyone and were just so wasteful and destructive that we are creating overpopulation by wasting resources. Anyway thats kind of off topic

^I agree about the wastefulness.
When my friend got back from Iraq he told us that Iraqi's spend their whole lives digging through garbage to salvage a life. He said that if an Iraqi came here to America and saw the stuff we throw out then he would be in Heaven just digging through our garbage day in and day out. |

And think about all the energy we waste by leaving our stuff turned on all the time. Every business I ever worked for seemed to keep so much of it's lights and computers turned on 24/7 all year round, even when closed.

As a species we are extremely inefficient. It puzzles me because when I think about humans AS nature, its confusing why nature would create such a wasteful destructive species when the rest of nature is so fucking perfect and efficient. Everything in nature is more efficient than humans if you think about it.
Is there anything simultaneously more complex and inefficient as we are? Our brains are the most evolved intelligent things we are aware of in the universe yet we are collectively fucking retards. Scumbag nature. Really thought to toss my cynicism aside for a moment and show you what I really believe, I think humans are in a transitional period and while we might appear really stupid and wasteful now, everything in nature is purposeful and i think we will eventually figure shit out and become much more efficient. Just look at what we're doing with green technology already. In 100 years we went from horsedrawn carriages to hybrid cars. If nature can just hold in there while we fucking destroy it creating progress for ourselves, I think everythings gonna be allright. This goes for the poor and needy too. As society evolves the way the least among those in the society are treated hopefully also evolves. I think you can see a slight improvement in the couple thousand years we went from leppers...to homeless people...we have homeless shelters and charities and lots of people who care about helping others. I bet the people of, for example, Jesus' day were way more barbaric. I dont think they had charities back then. Im actually pretty optimistic about the future. Technology increases standard of living, yada yada, soon we get to the point where we can clone food and teleport and do all that cool star trek shit. I dont see how homelessness can be a problem in a really technologically advanced world. Someone wanna debate me on this?

Well, Waves, if you have so much faith in nature then perhaps you should have faith in us as well. We are a legitimate force of nature and so we should be allowed our own proccess. Collectively we are changing the world and if you have any faith in nature then you will have faith that we are changing the world for the better.
We are more caveman than spaceman at the moment, but I believe someday we will be spacemen, and everything we're doing now is a step in the right direction. |

I would have no problem contributing to charities if the money didn't go to some fat lazy fucker sitting on the couch at home. Charity used to be a good thing, but now so many people are sucking off the system that I would rather not enable. I have nothing wrong with helping people...but I have a hard time helping people who did nothing to prevent their situation.

if you do your research, there are legit, good charities.
even if all you have to do is go buy some food and drop it off at a food shelter. that shit helps people more than you realize.
