So I actually listened to it, and I don't know what the fuck Metallica was thinking when they decided that this sounded like metal or anything close to it.

I don't think it's supposed to be a serious album. I think it's supposed to be ironic (it must be!). Perhaps they were intentionlly trying to release the worst album ever, and in that I think they succeeded.

no, no you cannot... the album must be roundly shamed.

and it's very sad that record companies would release such a steaming pile of shit while countless music artists with real work ethic don't get the time of day.

I wouldn't care if it was a dance album. If it was good, then I would be happy. S&M was amazing

Never given it a listen to be honest, I like their first couple CDs when they could still be considered Trash.

^Yeah, you gotta look at Metallica in context. There was a time, decades ago, when they were transcendent. So transcendent in fact that they quickly gained a fanbase that has lasted them almost 30 years now. But if you look at them rationally, you will see that they peaked musically with Enter Sandman and now they are living off respect alone.

It sounds like im at a metallica tribute band concert and some idiot hippy is standing next to me chanting weird shit.

I fucking love it.

This might be some of the weirdest music ever made. Lou Reed is a genius.

when art becomes product?

this might've been interesting if they tried to write the music (differently). maybe if it was just james and lou playing on acoustic guitars? regardless, this is the worst. I think this guy might actually have done a better job making a record Wild Animus by Rich Shapero: Music: 1/3

His response to the albums criticism?

Quote:
Lou Reed has stated that Metallica fans have threatened to shoot him due to the collaboration on Lulu. In response to this and the overall negative reaction to the album, Reed commented, "I don't have any fans left. After Metal Machine Music (1975), they all fled. Who cares? I'm essentially in this for the fun of it."

The funny thing is this album is LESS corny than metallicas serious music. They should be so lucky as to have a legendary poet lyricize their album, bunch of fucking hacks they are. If you take out the metallica it fucking rules.

These are actual metallica lyrics.

Blackened is the end
Winter it will send
Throwing all you see
Into obscurity

Death of Mother Earth
Never a rebirth
Evolution's End
Never will it mend
Never

Fire
To begin whipping dance of the dead
Blackened is the end
To begin whipping dance of the dead
Color our world blackened

Blistering of Earth
Terminate its worth
Deadly nicotine
Kill what might have been

Callous frigid chill
Nothing left to kill
Never seen before
Breathing nevermore
Never

Fire
To begin whipping dance of the dead
Blackened is the end
To begin whipping dance of the dead
Color our world blackened
Blackened

Opposition…Contradic tion…Premonition…Com promise
Agitation…Violation… …Mutilation…Pla net Dies
Darkest color
Blistered Earth
True death of life

Termination…Expirati on…Cancellation…Huma n Race
Expectation…Liberati on…Population…Lay to waste
See our mother
Put to death
See our mother die

Smoldering decay
Take her breath away
Millions of our years
In minutes disappears

Darkening in vain
Decadence remains
All is said and done
Never is the sun
Never

Fire
To begin whipping dance of the dead
Blackened is the end
To begin whipping dance of the dead

Fire
Is the outcome of hypocrisy
Darkest potency
In the exit of humanity
Color our world blackened
Blackened

I will take any of the lyrics on this album over "fire is the outcome of hypocrisy"

Here are the lyrics to "the view" from the lou reed album:

I Want To See You Give It Up
I Have No Morals
Some Think Me Cheap
And Someone Who Despises
The Normalcy Of Heartbreak
The Purity Of Love

But I Worship The Young
And Just Formed Angel

Who Sits Upon The Pin Of Lust
Everything Else...
Bores Me

I Want To See Your Suicide
I Want To See You Give It Up
Your Life Of Reason

I Want You On The Floor
And In A Coffin Your Soul Shaking

I Want To Have You Doubting
Every Meaning You’ve Amassed
Like A Fortune

Oh Throw It Away
For Worship Someone
Who Actively Despises You

For Worship Someone
Who Actively Despises You

These lyrics are fucking awesome. Hes describing the desecration of some hot young lady who had all these previous morals and hes asking her to throw them away.

Yeah, Lou Reed is still a badass and metallica is fucking insane for letting him do this w/ their shitty music. they are so desperate for real authenticity and real accolades from real artists. Lou Reed knows exactly what hes doing. You give him an inch and he will soon just be rambling about fucking hot young girls over your shit music.

If Metal Machine Music was the joke...

This is the punchline...

I always have and always will hate Metallica with a passion most people reserve for useful things.
