Christmas Conformity

Why doesn't it worry people that we do the same exact things at the same time every year? All the Christmas songs, the clothes, the food, the sayings, the decorations... it all comes back!!! Isn't that craziness? Why do we do that?

Is it really "the most wonderful time of the year"? Or is it all an illusion?

Humans are creatures of habit. Your entire life revolves around set routines. Why should Christmas be the exception?

Christmas can suck a dick though, bah humbug, etc...

I think for a lot of people, there's a certain association between Christmas and shit ton of good memories, magical memories, from childhood. I know that's true for me, and it's probably why I hate it so much sometimes. Anxiety over money has replaced excitement over getting piles of cool toys, and bouncing off the walls then entire month of December over cookies and christmas music and watching Rudolf and Frosty and all that.

For others, like my wife, it's about indulging in a childhood thing that she never got. They didn't celebrate Christmas in her home because her mother was a certifiable psychopath (Really, she could score a 40 on the PCL-R easy), so she's still trying to fill that hole, I think. I put aside all my shitty feelings about money and all that for her, and try to re-connect with the fun feelings. Now that I have a granddaughter, too, it's easier to get excited. She'll be entering those Santa years soon enough...

I don't think it's all about conformity, IOW. I think it's about getting in touch with your inner child. Well, that and family and all that shit.

Seriously, if I wanted to I could just throw the next gay guy I come across right up against a wall and give him an anal assault and he wouldn't complain one bit.

its the darkest time of the year in the northern hemisphere so we party it up and try to force good vibes up eachothers butt to counteract that.

You know what gets on my nerves more than Christmas? Grumpy motherfuckers who can't just let other people have their jolly times. I think lots of people try to act tough so they're all like "Hmmph I fuckin' hate Christmas music" but inside they're all giddy about it.

And for the record, I freaking adore Christmas.

I hate christmas themed "entertainment", but I like turkey, junk food and cool shit.

also, whats with christmas themed gifts? that is the most absurd thing ever.

^ what about skittles. I take you for a skittles girl cat!

I love Christmas. I can't wait to put up a Christmas tree with weekend. I am total with AL on this. I don't spent tons of money on stupid presents. We buy what we can and get together and enjoy one another's company.
Don't be a bunch of grumps

Theres a very logical reason that people kill themselves in record numbers around the season. Holidays are either a good reason to celebrate or a shitty reminder of your shitty position in life. I wish you could choose when u wanted to celebrate major holidays so you could take them on your own time. Fuck everything about being forced to celebrate.
