I honestly feel like if a person doesn't vote Ron Paul

They should probably be put down.

if i'm not mistaken the United States has the world's largest prison population..
i like ron paul but let's face facts: he's still a statist
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_...rceration_rate
Quote:
The United States of America has an incarceration rate of 743 per 100,000 of national population (as of 2009), the highest in the world.[2] In comparison, Russia has the second highest 577 per 100,000, Canada is 123rd in the world with 117 per 100,000, and China has 120 per 100,000.[2] While Americans only represent about 5 percent of the world's population, one-quarter of the entire world's inmates are incarcerated in the United States.[3]

That said, Ron Paul comes off as the only person not aware the invite he got was actually to a super secret orgy, or something. Not that hes worth voting for, cuz he could produce as much change in this system as any other worthless politician, but he does come off as one of the more honest ones. Still would never vote him in.

Its the old Bill Hicks bit. As soon as he gets in he gets briefed on whats REALLY going down and he gets the choice of "correcting" his viewpoints or becoming the next JFK.

So all candidates end up answering to the same people, is basically what im saying. The strings are becoming painfully obvious. We need a complete system overhaul, the current one is too corrupt.

So just about the only politician who has never flip flopped on an issue in over 30 years, whos attempting to pretty much change the entire system (end the fed, bring our military home ending our overseas occupation of the world, bring states rights back,, get corporations out of the Gov and so fourth), isn't good enough for you?

You'd never vote for him cause you'll obviously never vote for anyone.

I see he fooled you too. If you are tired of getting dicked around by corporations, then I don't think hardline libertarianism is what you are looking for.

gonna agree on this. i like ron paul because his existence and persistence has started some conversations, but I am also realistic. he won't win, he will never be anything more than a meme. The problem is, it became 'cool' on the internet to like ron paul, and the idiot followers are going to make it even harder for him. For example, calling into the same radio station everyday trying to blast everyone on why ron paul is better than everyone.... even though ron paul was on that very station the day before. ugh. ron paul has become a fad, sadly.

EVEN IF he wasn't a fad. still gotta be realistic. hes too pure. he would either be killer or have to start following what they tell him and because of his pureness, would probably go farther off the deep end than most do

We will NEVER have a wholesome president until we change the system that rules that job. IMO, Obama was just like Paul.... until the $$ starting telling him "No, Barack, no. Thats not how this works. we run the show."

Just like my job. I am a frontline supervisor. I don't really make the decisions though, my boss does. Everyone thinks I do, but I don't. ANd who is the Presidents (NO MATTER WHO IT IS, RON PAUL IS NOT IMMUNE) boss? Money and infinite power.

So no, I will not vote for Ron Paul. I will vote for Obama. Why? Because the GOP candidates are all jokes, and Ron Paul will not win. Obama will need what he can get. And hopefully Obama will be a lot more brave his second term than his first. There's only so much that a president can change, but that little amount that can change, i'd rather have Obama than any of the current GOP candidates.

good post, i can understand voting for obama too. i just dont think hes going to pull any shit second term that he hasnt been able to do yet. he ran up against a wall of resistance with the GOP and besides the healthcare stuff(which i love but doesnt really affect me to be honest) he really hasnt followed through on anything he said he would do. pretty disappointing.

its probably all just part of the bullshit scam, you can just have two opposing sides, and once the candidate from either side gets in, they can run amok and be a shit president (read: do what they fucking want him to do) and do the exact opposite of what they ran for, and they can just blame it on partisan politics and say its not their fault. then the public gets angry about it, the pendulum swings the other way and we elect a guy from the OTHER party, only to rinse and repeat while whoever the fuck is behind the scenes with the money and power is laughing to the bank. that would honestly not surprise me at this point.

the only way things are going to change is if we change the congress and senate. the president is mostly a figure head, and he can make speeches all day, but the checks and balances system makes it hard for him to actually CHANGE things. he can keep things from changing with veto, but he cant exactly snap his fingers and pass laws/ budgets etc.

i think we need younger men and women in our government, the old ways of thinking are not working in the current world of politics.

edit: and to address the op, i think ron paul is alot better than the other GOP candidates, at least he is an MD and believes in scientific facts.

I only vote on measures relating to marijuana legalization, and that's only because Komp shamed me into it. Otherwise, I agree completely with Carlin. It IS totally pointless, especially where voting for people is concerned.

That being said, Ron Paul IS the only guy who's held a consistent position, and, based on what I know of economics, he's right on the money about abolishing the central bank. You stabilize the quantity of money in circulation, and make owners of corporations responsible for their property, and you've got 90% of the problem fixed right there.

I don't think anyone is doubting his intelligence or doubting his ideas (they are pretty hard to disagree with), its more about the matter that big money matters more than his intelligence and plans

I would take the guy who has stuck to his guns for decades over the guy who will say anything to win an election.

Obama is like the Smiler in the comic Transmetropolitan (read it!), his only actual conviction is that he should be president.
