"Diaz, who claimed he used marijuana for medical and religious purposes, fled as his drug trial was about to begin in January (2011) in 35th District Court in Brown County. He was to represent himself in the trial and was free on $35,000 bond when he fled."

"Diaz was released on bond from the Brown County Jail on Oct. 25. Glynn Franklin, owner of A-Action Bail Bonds, said earlier that his company wrote Diaz's bond after relatives put up property worth $70,000 - twice the amount of Diaz's $35,000 bond. Cash - $3,500, or 10 percent of the bond - was also put up for the bond, Franklin said."
