Went with a small group of 8 of us out to a Turkish private school. Kids grade 7-12.

We got there around like 11, went on a tour, met with some teachers and stuff then the fun began.

The group I went with was a lot of us from our intermural soccer team here on base, and we got to play the high school team in indoor soccer with like 200 students watching, which we didn't expect. Shit was pretty nuts. We ended up loosing like 7-4 or something, and I aint gonna lie, we tried. We were sloppy as fuck, and didn't want to body em to much like they did us, but we didn't want to loose lol. It was real cool though, the Turkish people are very prideful so it was cool to be able to play them and be apart of that experience.

After that we got a free lunch and ate with the soccer team. Really good lunch, couple different soups, some different kinds of chicken, and of coarse, as always tons of bread. During lunch we found out a few of the kids from the team were actually going on to the cities B league youth soccer team and wanted to go out to some real games with us. I thought that was pretty cool.

Anyways, after lunch we got to go around through the school and into classrooms. Talked with a lot of students, did some arm wrestling (arm wrestling is fucking huge in Turkey, the kids went nuts when thay saw a few of us would be what they consider big), and just had a good time interacting with us.

The students and teachers were all very happy to meet us and be around us, some of them especially the girls, really really excited.

Just an overall good experience I felt like sharing.

Im itching to play some soccer I just switched gyms. My new gym is a lot more $$ (Golds) but they have a huge indoor soccer field. They do not have a lot of pick up games. I always see guys playing BB. most of the time they look really good. The other day, it was a bunch of white boys, so I asked if i could jump in, damn I have no ball handling skills, I can drain em. but I got no ball handling skills.

damn, pretty nice gym man. I would love to have access to an indoor field. There are phucking tons here in the city, like every block has a fenced in or walled in turf field, but its been hard to get a group together.

I got decent ball handling skills but I suck when it comes to ripping a shot. I have trouble keeping the ball low when I go to shoot. I can pass the ball all the way across the field on the ground, but when it comes to shooting all that goes out the window for some reason.

that sounds really cool, mayne! i think id shit myself trying to play in front of 200 people lol. i got a tip for keeping the shot low. when you line up your shot, trace your eyes from the goal back to the center of the ball. if your boot goes right at or slightly above the midline of the ball you should hit a nice liner right where you were looking. it seems to easy but it actually works really well.

my friends and i used to play a game called kick the sign where we basically played half field soccer without goals. wed kick the ball at this no parking sign for points, and youd have to take the ball back like basketball. 2 points for hitting the sign(not too easy), 1 point for hitting the post. it might sound lame, but even in our lazy ass stoned days we used to play for hours.
