My problem with the military today is that mentally, alot of troops just aren't prepared for war.

It seems to get worse with every conflict.

Perhaps as people become more educated, they become more inwardly conflicted.
Having devastating results in returning combat troops.

If someone has the perfect solution , I'm sure the DOD , and the VA would love to hear it.

I'm sure there are many, many reasons for there being more obvious psychological infirmities in troops these days, the one you mention included though certainly not the primary factor.





Personally I hate violence. If I ever ended up fighting in a war I would probably let myself go, lose sight of who I was before entirely, and devote myself purely to survival and the process of effective murder. There is no way the personality I have could survive in that kind of shit.


There's no way I'd be hitting a sheep with a bat though, that just isn't logical.

I can't pretend I know what I'd really do. I can only guess and withhold judgement on those that have experienced it. I really have no grounds to judge someone who's been through it.



Actually I've only met a couple people that have experienced actual warfare and my respectful requests to talk to them about it were denied (respectfully).
